I was super excited for this "mist" but at 1st spray was sooooo disappointed. For me a mist is a fine spray of wet particles. This was more like a drenching of clusters of product. I found as other users had to do was to smooth over with your fingertips. The product itself works but not as a setting spray at all. ELF figure out the fine mist spray and this could be a killer product again for you! I am going to try to pour into a Mario Badescu spray bottle to see if this might help. I can't speak to Oily or Dry skin as i do not have those issues.
On it's own I think this primer mist is decent (it is certainly better than the much more expensive Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water), but I've found better results by spraying a few sprays of this hydrating primer into my hand along with a dollop of the silicone based E.l.f. Tone Adjusting Primer, mixing them around a little with my finger, and then I quickly apply all over my face before makeup. Then before I apply foundation I spray my make up sponge with the Hydrating Primer Mist and apply foundation with the sponge dampened with the primer mist, and after everything is done I set with powder and use make up setting spray. Using these two primers together has made a HUGE difference in how long my make up lasts and looks decent. Sadly I have sun damaged, aging, yet acne prone skin, and I have several areas of discoloration, peeling, & healing skin, where I have to use a maximum coverage makeup & concealer and apply with a brush to deal with and cover them. Using this spray mist plus the tone adjusting primer together has helped my make up go on better, makes it blend more seamlessly, and it has increased the wear time substantially. This has greatly reduced my anxiety about what is going on with my make up during my work shift. It also decreases imperfections and improves the look of my skin so much so that I now dilute my all over foundation with serum and then go back and just use full coverage on the problem areas. It is a relief to be able to tone down the make up a little as I was looking awfully garish, and it's embarrassing to look so covered when everyone else is looking more barefaced and translucent during the summer months. Now I still look made up, but it looks much lighter and reasonable when outside. My make up even looked not-so-terrible after a 20 mile bike ride on at 90+ degree high humidity day last week. Woo hoo! Oh, one Afterthought Warning: the spray nozzle on this is near violent and is actually just horrible. Windex comes out softer. My only complaint, but since I spray it into my hand & directly onto my make up sponge (vs. spraying right onto my face) it doesn't really bother me. Long story, but short of it is that I'm very glad I decided to try this primer and highly recommend. A great value and great performance.
I use this before I prime my face and after skin care and then again after setting my under eyes and the rest of my face to reduce a possibility of cakey skin...however, the spritzer is horrific. It attacks your face. I was looking for an alternative to smash box but will be going back because the spritzer doesn’t do it for me.
I liked this spray. Doesn’t really have a smell, and I think it worked pretty good on my skin. I really liked using this as a base spray and setting spray. If my skin was feeling low, I liked running a make up wipe over it and then using this as a pick me up, or even just by itself. It does go pretty quick and I wish you got more for your buck. Obviously it’s not a terrible price, however, they could utilize the bottle better.
I got bought this as a present and haven't stopped using it since. Sets a fantastic foundation for both my every day and going out make up. Also leaves my skin feeling smooth and looking hydrated, which has given me a real confidence boost!
I bought this because I needed an everyday setting spray, because I did not want to use my urban decay. So a tip is, the spray technique for it that will actually help it be a good product...You kind of have to angle it up ABOVE your face, spray and let the mist sink into your skin. Kinda hard at first but it works. This, TO ME, helped my makeup stay all day long...even longer than the urban decay one. Now, don't come for me but we all have different skin types. I have oily skin and it worked! The only reason why I didn't put a five star, because it is a five star product for me, is simply because of the quantity. IT'S ONLY A LITTLE BIT and for $8?! If it were the whole bottle filled with the product I would stick to this buuut it only has product on the white container inside the bottle. Idk if it makes sense but great product just ELF please make it the whole bottle please!
