About this item

Researchers from ParisTech universities and from a consortium of construction and transport companies conducted joint research to create decision-aid tools that diverse stakeholders in the two sectors can use to measure and quantify the economic and environmental impacts of French and international projects that the companies are interested in. This report on their work covers an overview of basic knowledge, operational aspects, and a joint case study. Among the topics are life cycle assessment applied to neighborhoods, the ecological design of parking systems: systemic analysis and simulation tool, an environmental information module of construction materials, and retrofitting buildings. The case study is Cité Descartes, an urban fragment in the east of the Paris urban area. Among the matters it considers are territory and transport, accessibility and mobility at the neighborhood scale, comparing urban morphologies, and biodiversity.
