There is a fine line between just-churned-enough and starting-to-melt. It's a simple design for small batches so I didn't expect much BUT my biggest complaint is the difficulty to clean the top. Ice cream drippings get caught in the cracks and hinges -- this wouldn't be a big deal if the power pack is easily removed. I cannot separate the power pack from the lid, despite it appearing as it I should / could.
Very easy to use. I froze the container overnight as directed. Before I took it out to use, I had all the ingredients set out and pre-measured. It was a difficult pouring some of the ingredients through the small opening and transferring the ice cream to a container was also a little difficult and messy. But it turned out great!
This a nice simple ice cream maker. It doesn't make too much at a time but it's fun. If you follow directions you will get a soft serve that's pretty soft. It stays firm longer if you freeze it for a couple of hours.
The first few times, the vegan ice cream I made was ok, but we were super excited bc it still tasted amazing! For those first batches I used organic coconut milk (full fat kind that comes in a can). With that, we made vanilla first then blueberry (100% organic fruit) both with all natural sugar replacement (granulated). The 3rd tub was made again with a very popular brand of organic coconut milk (full fat canned) and was more creamy like real dairy ice cream. The first 3 batches literally filled half of my Tovolo ice cream containers. I finally made it again with smashed organic frozen black cherries BUT this time with another Organic generic store brand can of coconut CREAM and by 25 minutes, the ice cream maker was literally frothing over in creamy goodness. I’m now making lychee ice cream again with the can of organic coconut CREAM and I’m so excited to have a full tub of REAL-style ice cream! Gourmet style and can’t be bought at stores! (Without all those unnecessary extra ingredients!) I’m pretty excited to see what other flavor combinations we can come up with! The only thing I don’t like is the color of the maker- orange but whatever! Thanks Target!
I was not impressed.... The icecream maker got hot and shut down, before it was done churning the icecream. The motor does not appear to be of quality or of size requirements, that meet the intended use? The item is cheaply made, though the pot seems to be of reasonable quality....... I am planning on returning it, when I find the time....
I would recommend spending more money and purchasing a higher quality item.
Really good for the price! I got it to make frozen yogurt. Only thing is you have to eat it once it is made or it just freezes rock solid...not sure about ice cream but is true of yogurt. I put flavored yogurt in it and sprinkled granola over it and it was YUM! Wanted a healthy alternative to ice cream.
