Q: Why does it say not for HOT beverages? I'm assuming you could use hot in it since it's glass and not use the lid/straw when doing this since those are plastic.

A: Greetings from Ello! Carbonated beverages build pressure inside of the tumbler and make it difficult and messy to remove the lid. The liquid build up can also cause liquid to gush out of the straw.

It's made of glass, not sure why anyone would think it's a special non-breakable glass but it's not, so treat it accordingly. Also, the lid does just sit on the top so don't expect to go jogging with this glass cup or toss it in your bag, but it's fine for keeping random crud from falling in your cup. I like that the silicone doesn't go to the bottom so I can see when it's almost empty, and the silicone is nice and grippy when I take my cup with me. The only drawback for me is that the plastic straw stains if you're drinking colored liquids. I'll eventually buy a glass straw to replace it.

I have used this cup everyday for awhile now and obviously clean it after each refill and even take the ring around the lid off and clean with a brush, but it has gotten to the point where it doesn’t come clean and is just getting worse with black all over it and it won’t even come off when I scratch it with my fingernail. I love this tumbler a lot. Like others, I wish the lid & straw were not plastic but the straw is easy enough to replace (I got the ello stainless steel ones w/silicone tips which are awesome). Otherwise it’s nice, durable (I’ve been using it for almost a year), and I love that I can put the glass & lid in the dishwasher. My main gripe is that the capacity is not truly 20 oz. I bought it for that reason to be able to drink more water daily. But I poured a 16.9oz bottle of water in the tumbler once, and it filled to just a bit below the lid groove. So the actual capacity is probably 17-18oz with the lid on.

While I love how there is no plastic (besides straw) I hardly knocked the cup on our wood door casing while walking between rooms and the cup shattered into a thousand pieces. This was less than a week after I purchased it. Doesn’t live up to day-to-day use.

I’ve bought at least 5 of these because I love them and because I’ve broken at least 3 lol. I love that they hold a good amount of water, they’re cute, and easy to clean. The lid basically just rests on top. Kind of like the styrofoam cups from restaurants. So it’s not spill proof. I’ve used them for years, but it’s not my go to travel tumbler since it’s not spill proof and it’s insulated.
