No. Uh uh. While wet, my wavy hair was a tangled mess, and it did not have a particularly nice smell. When dry, my hair looked dry and frizzy, and felt rough to touch. I used it twice, to be sure. I will not use again. I don’t like to waste things, but it isn’t worth bad hair. I don’t like to give bad reviews either, but this was my experience with this product.

If you have any type of 4 textured hair just put this right back on the shelf. Provides absolutely no slip which is needed to properly detangle. Smells like a protein or cholesterol treatment. I’m gonna have to wash this out and try again.

Nothing

Olivia - 2 years ago
I have mixed type 4 hair. I used this whole jar in all kind of ways: steamed in the shower, overnight, after 30 minutes, etc. There wasn't any method that really made a difference at all- this product just sucks. I didn't want to waste it so I used it more like a cowash for the most part but overall, it's just very ineffective.

I have type 4 hair and this mask felt pretty good being put on and was pretty good to detangle my hair but the smell is so over powering and my hair felt so dry after rinsing out the mask. The size of this mask is amazing you get so much product for a amazing price. If you have to get something for your curls quickly cause you ran out of product this is pretty good. I ran out of deep conditioner and didn’t want to use silicones so I got this. My hair the day after feels pretty soft but not as moisturized as my normal mask makes my hair.

I tried this three times and it was terrible. I usually love hair masks, it smooths my hair and makes it so soft but this literally did none of that. Made it dry and didn’t help my curls. Felt like I hadn’t done anything to it. In the garbage it went.

Kinky Curly Hair? Give it a try!

5 out of 5 stars
Lanasia - 2 years ago
I identify as black and my hair type is 4a/4b, low porosity, medium density. I usually shy away from hair masks because they always left my hair thick and unmanageable. However this masks has worked tremendously on my hair and it’s affordable. I’m one to spend $$$ on hair care, but this $7 mask leaves my hair feeling moisturized and manageable. I usually mix this mask with a deep conditioner for a slicker grip. This mask is super thick, which I love, but I need my hair slick for easy detangling. I saw a review about the smell, it’s not fruity smelling, but I could care less because again it’s so moisturizing. If your hair type is similar to mine, definitely give this a try. I always follow up with the leave-in conditioner and I don’t use emerge shampoo, FYI.

I have been on the hunt for a cheaper deep conditioner for my 3c/4a bra length hair. My go to has been Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Mafura oil. This brand is half the price and does a surprisingly great job. It gives GREAT slip and moisture. I do have high porosity hair, so take that inconsideration when choosing products, especially conditioner.
