about this item

Bane has set out to construct the most thorough and widespread encyclopedia and mythical and legendary creatures, drawing mainly from other collections, but also Internet resources. She does not include fictional characters, figures from popular culture, or urban myths such as alligators in sewers or kangaroos in Kansas. Also missing is Big Foot/Sasquatch/Yeti. Among those she includes are Dhumarna, a naga from Hindu mythology; Guirilvulu, the fox-snake chimerical creature of Chile; the kogukhpuk subterranean monstrous being of the Inuit near the Bearing Sea; the Finnish Swan of Tuonela personifying the black waters of the Underworld; and the phoenix-like youchang from China. Each entry include one or more references. Annotation ©2016 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
