The Franklin Armillary Floor Lamp makes a stunning addition to the living room, study or bedroom of anyone stunned by the array of constellations in the night sky. Crafted from metal, this standing lamp has a deep oil-rubbed bronze finish that gleams beautifully in the light. The slim tube rises from a sturdy base resembling the foundation of an antique streetlamp. Below the shade, the tube is embellished by a curving break that's topped with a beautiful armillary sphere. A metal ball finial adds the final elegant touch.
I absolutely LOVE this lamp! I fell immediately for the "armillary" style - it reminds me of old depictions of the solar system, or the internal structure of the atom - very cool! Although the description says "rubbed bronze" it's really much closer to black, which is exactly what I was hoping for! The instructions were good, and it was easy to get the pieces together and the lamp ready to use - one thing that was missing (or maybe I skipped it in the instructions) was that, as you assemble the pieces, you want to gently pull the cord to towards the bottom end of the lamp - then, when you screw the put-together lamp into the base, you want to gently pull the cord out of the hole in the base. Doing that, you won't get any cord caught up or twisted up or kinked up inside the pole, and you're sure to get the full cord when you're done. The cord could be a bit loner, but that's very minor in my mind. The pieces, including the base, are very solid, and screwed together nicely - just follow the directions, remembering the cord thing. One drawback - the shade is thick, so it doesn't provide as much overall light as I'd hoped, but that shouldn't be a big issue for someone who intends to use it very close, or over, them. NICE LAMP! I'll be ordering a 2nd!
Tired of the cheap generic looking torchiere floor lamps with spindly crooked bases, plastic shades & hard to find light bulbs; it took months of window shopping online to find, but I finally picked the Safavieh Franklin Armillary Floor Lamp. -It's sturdy, -goes well with the black, brown, gray, blue colors throughout the space -the armillary sphere makes it unique and, best of all... -it 'looks' expensive!
