My kids love ice hockey so this toy was a hit. They are 6 and 8, and average height. My youngest uses the stick in the middle position, and my oldest, in the longest so probably a taller kid would find the stick too short. We have used them only indoors but I don't see why they wouldn't work outdoors too. Plastic seems good quality and like it would take some abuse just fine. And the ball is very soft so the risk of breaking stuff inside is low.

We bought a bunch of these for a last minute ice hockey game in our backyard on the cheap. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and versatility. The group (all older teens) were able to adjust the sticks to match height of the player. They are pretty sturdy and have held up to rough play even though these are really made for street hockey. They come with a bright orange ball, which was a fun alternative to a puck. We used the balls as well as pucks and they worked fine on the ice. The balls are bright orange which was another plus if they went into the snow, as you could easily spot them. The sticks were a hit with the guys and the mom is happy they can be shortened and easily stored away, saving valuable storage space.

The NERF FLEXPLAY HOCKEY SET is an awesome way to keep my kids active! We bought two sets so each kid would have a hockey stick and we let them make up all kinds of games to play with it. They like using the set to hit shots into goals, to try tricks on skate park ramps, and to just play around in the house- which I can let them do since it includes a soft ball instead of a hockey puck. The set is adjustable both for height and blade curve, which means that it works just as well for my tall 12 year old as it does for my 7 year old. This set is a big hit here!
