Decent GPS but missing a few features
Good golf GPS. The radar has some accuracy issues. Tried it on the range using my range finder (Z82). Off about 15 yards short on a 155 yard shot. I’m going to try it against my new R10 which seems more accurate according to how far I usually hit good shots. The unit is a bit heavy. Wish that it had better screen brightness. Missing a few things like compatibility with find my gear which I am told is coming and the ability to pair with the Z82 range finder which is TBD at this point

Great GPS Device & Almost Great Launch Monitor
I switched from my Garmin golf watch & Z82 rangefinder to the G82 & Z30 rangefinder. There were changes with the automatic score tracking with my CT10 club sensors but overall I like having the bigger screen for the on course use. The calculated/recommended distance with adjustments for elevation, temperature & wind tend to be very helpful. I also like the launch monitor feature for the driving range. Having the instant stats while I practice has helped improve my golf practice sessions. I would give this device 5 stars if the launch monitor works well will all my clubs. I have a big backswing with my driver. If I take a big backswing with my driver, it confuses the G82. When that happens, the clubhead speed and ball speed numbers are garbage. I also have the Approach R10. It doesn’t have an issue with my big driver backswing.

Features don't work as advertised
Very clunky syncing of data across Garmin Golf/Connect app. Even after using bag mapping, it doesn't reflect club distances during round. The virtual caddie only offers default club distances that are wildly inaccurate and doesn't allow customization outside of the given range of clubs. What's the point of a virtual caddie if it doesn't use accurate club data? If you open the Garmin Golf app during the round it isn't synced with the device and doesn't even recognize a round being played until after the round is complete. I tried to initiate a return and they refused to accept the return.

Not so Great!
Sadly I was very disappointed with the Garmin G82. I own other Garmin products that have indeed measured up to the Garmin reputation and namen, not the G82. I primarily purchased the G82 for the Launch Monitor which did not convey accurate yardages over 100+ yards. Then once I found that out I found my self toting not on iPhone by an Added Brick of a cell phone called a G82?!? I then discovered I was there playing golf NOT JUGGLING BETWEEN A G82 AND AN iPHONE!! Then I realized the many Golf Apps available for the iPhone satisfied my needs for Launch Monitoriing, GPS, Scoring in different ways, Stats keeping and Strokes Gained without this Expensive Less Accurate G82.

Great features
I bought this a month ago and I’m happy how easy to use it. It’s pretty accurate. I hope that there’s a protective cover.

GREAT NEW ADDITION TO GARMIN GOLF
I bought this for the screen size and added features vs the G80. I like this unit very much much, however I would like to see in future software upgrades for non-tournament play, yardage indicators to certain places, such as bunkers. Other competitors also include suggested clubs for those distances based upon player input of their bag and yardages. Another competitors also include also includes “voice announcement” so one does not have to look at the device. All in all, a welcome to my Garmin Golf and my bag.

Solid All-In-One Device!
Received this as a gift about a month ago, overall I love it. Great for on course yardages and carry distance on the range. Without detecting spin, the total yardage is off but a great all in one device.

Great product, works as advertised
Bought this a few weeks ago and have only used it at the driving range. I really wanted to know my swing speed as I practiced as well as other data that could show if I was being consistent with my swings. The unit works as advertised! Swing speed, ball speed, distances (carry and total) are all calculated for each swing. Each of my clubs is currently tracked using the CT-10 sensors. The data transfers immediately to the Garmin golf app for review after the session. The only issue I've had is the occasional freezing of the unit when switching clubs which happens once or twice during a driving range session. It pauses for a bit, then gets back to the session. I've never lost the data though, which is good. If I could change one thing it would be the bulkiness of the product. It's big but rugged - I doubt it would break if it feel out of your bag or cart. Would buy again.

Screen issues
I really liked this G82 but sent it back to the store I purchased it from for a refund. Took it to the driving range and when I was using the the launch monitor feature in the sun it started getting lines through the screen. When I got home and turned it back on the lines were gone so I took it back outside and put it in the sun. Less than 10 minutes later I checked and the lines were back.

So so …
Missing quite a few clubs in the club selector section (Yes, I do have a seven hybrid and also a seven wood). Also I find that the carry distance is consistently 10 yards or more short... just put +10 in the code for driver and you’ll be consistently closer. It would be nice to review more information on the device itself instead of always requiring your phone.

Great product
Great product. I have used it for bag mapping a couple of times and found it so helpful with clubs and specific yardages. I have found the putting information extremely helpful as well. Played a round with the course GPS and found that to be very helpful. I love how portable the device is.

Good but with some irritating problems…
Consistently 10-15 yards short on driver carry. Select club has no 4, 7 or 9 wood options, also only has a 3 hybrid option for some strange reason. It would be nice to be able to define new clubs or create levels for them (I have several pitching wedges). It would be nice to be able to review data directly on the device.

Great All-In-One Device
I have had the Garmin G82 for a couple of weeks and it has been great. From locating the course I am playing to using the launch monitor features it has been very easy to use. I like how the screen stays on as you use it as a launch monitor and how you can use the included back with a golf ball to set it up properly.

Oh NO!
Such a great device with fantastic features, especially the larger screen, but a HUGE FAIL ruined it all for me. How in the world did you not make sure the brightness was actually bright enough, especially at this price? I'm shocked that Garmin would put this G82 on the market without a brighter, amoled screen. Unfortunately it's a deal breaker. I'm shocked and disappointed by this. I took my new device to the course today and couldn't believe, of all things, they'd drop the ball on what's probably an easy fix. Looks like I'm going to have to return it.
