Love this watch

I absolutely love the ease of using it. Every once in a while you have to reconnect. I have to charge it every two days. It also won’t connect to music, or my beats. But, it’s a great basic fitness watch. I would probably have gotten another one, but this one is great for what I need it for.

I owned a Fitbit for many years. I lost my last one, a Fitbit Luxe. I started to research what type of new smartwatch I wanted. After numerous reviews and searching, I end up getting this Garmin Venu SQ Music edition. It took me a little while to get used to a new brand and its features but the longer I have it the more I enjoy it. I can do so many things with it. Plus it does a lot of tracking of different activities, personal goals, etc. I've owned my Garmin for about a month or so. Hopefully it will continue to serve me well!

I've had this watch a couple months now. Eats battery. So you can't use the radio or most of the other stuff. Doesn't count stairs or floors. I love the garmin watches but, this one is a disappointment.

Excellent Runners Watch

I got this a little late in training to prepare for the Marine Corps Marathon, but I am still very glad I did. I was able to pull in music from YouTube music after watching a video to do so. The idea was being able to leave my phone, which I was able to do. I was able to load up over (4) hrs of music. One feature which I wasn’t aware of, was the estimated water loss. I found this useful. For slower runners, beware, while playing music, the battery can go pretty quick, so run faster. I believe I was able to get a consecutive (5) hrs of music and data-logging time.

My favorite wellness tracker! Initially I had considered purchasing an Apple watch, but after discussing the Garmin Venu Sq versus the latest Apple watch with my friends (who have both), one of my biggest selling points was the battery life. Apparently you have to charge the Apple Watch everyday, while the Garmin Venu Sq Music has been proven to last 6 WHOLE DAYS and only needing an hour or 2 to charge fully! I also love this Garmin Venu Sq Music due to its accuracy with measurements. It reminds me to keep calm, allowing me to take meditative breaks during the day, and tracks all of my other vitals very well. I’m a very active person, and having this watch with me allows me to track my progress. I love how the watch automatically celebrates breaking new goals, reminds me to get up and move (as I have a desk job) and is at an affordable price point. If you’re looking for the ultimate fitness buddy and don’t want to break the bank, this is the watch for you!

Garmin venue sq music has many features. I find it a bit complicated and have yet to be able to fully appreciate all options, as I do not clearly understand how to use. In time, hopefully soon, I hope to appreciate full use and to know that it is working properly. I find it seems to track steps more accurately than two other smartwatch brands I've had. The large face is very nice and bright.

Disappointed in performance

I purchased for features, especially ability to upload music, however, unless you transfer files from your pc, you must continue to pay for premium Spodify or other streaming services. Surprisingly, the daily activities such as steps and calories burned is never accurate. This seems pretty basic, and again disappointing. On the positive, the battery life is good, fast charge, screen, and profile nice.

Not great features!

I have a few complaints about the watch: 1. I sometimes get "Content expired" message that prevents me from playing music through the watch. I once got this message inconveniently when hiking Mt. Whitney where I was really hoping on playing some music to stay motivated during the 18.5h hike but no, the watch decided it was not going to play songs that were already downloaded on the device. A Garmin FAQ mentions: "Music downloads must be refreshed once every 30 days to avoid interruption when playing your downloaded music content." which makes absolutely no sense. This is not a feature, it's a really annoying and unnecessary bug. Someone fix it. 2. The battery life is not amazing. With the default settings the watch died during my marathon training run (~3h). I started w 80% battery and was tracking the run and playing music. For my actual marathon to prevent the watch from dying I ended up playing music out of my phone and only used the watch for tracking (I also disabled a bunch of features to try and extend the battery). Should the watch not last long enough to run a marathon? What's the point of the music feature then. 3. It can take forever to connect to GPS. The watch frequently takes longer than 10-15 min to connect so that I can start tracking my run. There were many runs where the watch would take ~30 min (especially when cloudy is what I noticed) to connect at which point I was close to being done with my run. It is very frustrating to just stand there not knowing how long the watch will take until I can start tracking my run. 4. Related to the above, once the watch does connect to the GPS and is ready to start tracking the activity, it only stays in this mode for maybe 5 minutes and then it goes back to the default mode. You can imagine how this becomes inconvenient because now I have to somehow time this window during which I can start the activity because if the watch cancels the ready to track mode then it can again take a long time to re-connect to GPS and I might already have crossed the start line during a race. I think giving this watch 2 stars is generous.

Good all-round fitness watch

Waffleinator - 6 months ago

Just started our fitness journey and this watch has been an integral part of keeping track of everything so far. The battery life is good, I can usually get 4 days of heavy use. It's a tough little watch, it's taken a couple of heavy blows with no ill effects, not even a scratch. I've nicknamed it "The Dictator" because it tells me to get up and move after I've been sitting at the desk for too long. You can turn the reminders off, but I really like it. Just getting up and stretching or doing jumping jacks for a few minutes clears the reminder and does wonders for my mental health too. I've noticed I'm much less stressed out when I do it. Overall, genuinely impressed with the watch.
