Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

Gets dirty immediately and pills as soon as anything gets on it. My daughter went to a playground for the first trip wearing this jacket. The dirt and wood chips would not come off easily, and those that did resulted in pilling all over. Brand new jacket immediately ruined by normal playground wear.

The jacket had five snaps to close it and she was not a fan as she would have preferred a zipper so no air would be through. This jacket did have a hood, but nothing to adjust or tighten it. It fit her really nice and it was a little longer in the length and she really liked that. The material of the jacket was fluffy and she said it was very warm. I like how the buttons were on the inside and kind of invisible so it kind of just looks like the jacket is pulled shut. My daughter is petite and typically wears a size 10 or a medium or a large. This youth medium was perfect on her but the sleeves were a bit too short so a large would have fit her better and lasted longer. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This faux sherpa jacket is a very cozy option that is in a size four or five toddler that was a little large on our petite toddler. The fabric is soft to the touch however in past purchases this has been a tough one with washing as it loses its softness after a couple of times. The color is adorable but with a toddler it may not be ideal for this age with stains. The price point is high. I received an incentive to write this review.

It's a really pretty jacket (we got the neutral color) and the sherpa is also the lining layer, so it's super warm and soft on the entire inside too. My daughter is 6 but tall and the small is perfect with a little room to spare (it's slightly oversized). The toddler version has another color-name ("cream"?), but we got it and it matches perfectly so my daughters could match; they look like the exact same coat.
