Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My daughter is ten years old, 4 feet 2 inches tall, weighs approximately 58 lbs, and tried on the size medium 8 in this long sleeve rugby stripe shirt from art class. It fits her how other medium shirts fit- we would say it fits pretty true to size. It also has a little longer length in the arms, which she likes. The colors are pretty too. It’s not her favorite style of a shirt, but it is a good quality shirt for a good price. I received an incentive to write this review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My 11 year loved the style of this on trend “preppy” shirt. She is pretty slim and can wear a 7/8 or 10/12 depending. We got the 10/12 and it is quite oversized on her, but she wants to keep it. The quality is just ok. The material is not as thick as I expected. She has a similiar shirt from a competitor that I feel is better quality. It wrinkles quite a bit in the wash, especially the collar. I received an incentive to write this review.

The material is lightweight, and my daughter said it was comfortable but she wasn’t a big fan of the rugby style. I personally thought the collared look and the whole shirt was adorable. She said it was super comfortable to wear but it just wasn’t her style. She’s tiny for her age so I ordered her a size medium 8 because that’s what she usually wears. It was pretty baggy on her but I think that’s just the style of the shirt. I received an incentive to write this review.
