Q: do these bowls have a smooth surface on the bottom of the bowl like Corelle bowls or do they have that non polished ceramic feel bottom?

A: These MBD bowls are made of opal glass, and they are very smooth and glossy on the inside. The outside of the bowls have a slight texture for gripability when handling, but they are still smooth.

A: Hello. The diameter is 5.4 inches. Normal re-heating or warming in the microwave is acceptable, however the manufacturer does not recommend using this bowl to steam for an hour. Thank you for checking in!

The bowl is at most 9oz. If you're looking for 16oz you'll be so disappointed! I was looking for a 10-12oz. This is only a little bigger than a regular rice bowl. However the quaility is good.

Pretty to look at but difficult to use. Unless you stack them in a perfectly level manner, they will stick together. Whoever designed these never tried to use them!

I was looking for these bowls and finally got them from local Target. I purchased pasta bowls in the same collection two years ago, used them daily and cleaned in dishwasher. So far no chipping and not obvious scratches at all. I used to buy corelle bowls, but always dislike their design. They remind me of pet’s bowls although quality is great. I am so to find glad Target has these elegant bowls and plates. My friends also bought some and love them. Please do not discontinue this collection! Depends on your purpose, these bowls are good for rice, soup or cereal. If you want bigger ones for salad etc. check out their pasta bowls. Unless you do eat a lot, these are perfect sized daily bowls.

Bowls are not microwave safe. My fiance microwaved food in this bowl and he heard a loud popping sound. took it out and it was cracked all over. We are surprised it didn't shatter.

We are sorry to hear of your experience with these Glass Mixing Bowls. These mixing bowls are made of tempered glass, which is stronger than regular annealed glass and is more resistant to both physical and thermal shocks. Due to the nature of tempered glass, if there are any imperfections of the bowl (a crack, scratch, etc.), the rate of expansion between the body of the glass and the imperfection can provoke breakage over time. By design, tempered glass will break into many tiny fragments rather than large, dangerous shards. We are sorry this happened to your bowl and we would be more than happy to offer you a replacement.
