About this item
Our society is so youth conscious, constantly putting a negative spin on being old, that it’s almost funny. Now at ninety-four, I’m often told, “You don’t look a day over seventy-five.” I reply, “What does ninety-four look like?” All of us go through different stages of life, from being an infant, child, teenager, and young adult to being middle-aged then a senior and elder. None of the transitions between these stages is easy, but the transitions to senior and elder are perhaps the most dramatic and challenging. In this book, I offer another slant on aging, sharing how I have made the transitions to senior and elder by emphasizing humor, acceptance, and gratitude. When we focus on these states of mind, our lives become more satisfying and complete, preparing us to take the next journey without fear.
