"A must-read for any parent seeking wisdom for their vital and increasingly challenging role."--Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family
Our children and teens are growing up more anxious, depressed, and fearful than previous generations. But if we help them discover true God-confidence--instead of chasing the illusive self-confidence--we can empower them to embrace their uniqueness and find their purpose, passion, and peace as they grow into humble, compassionate, and resilient young people.
In this hopeful book, associate marriage and family therapist Cyndie Claypool de Neve explains how you can help your kids discover the purpose for which God created them. God-Confident Kids is filled with stories, Scripture, psychological insights, and practical tips to help you move from fear-based parenting to faith-filled parenting as you claim Ephesians 2:10 for your kids: "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (NIV).
"Kids increasingly derive their confidence from liked selfies and video game accomplishments. This is shaky ground! God-Confident Kids will open your eyes and shift your perspective to what really counts in life. Your children will thrive beyond your wildest dreams as they place their confidence in Christ alone."--Arlene Pellicane, speaker and author of Parents Rising: 8 Strategies for Raising Kids Who Love God, Respect Authority, and Value What's Right
Cyndie Claypool de Neve is the coauthor of Unshaken, Start with Praise, and Raise Them Up. She has appeared on Dr. James Dobson's Family Talk Radio, is an associate marriage and family therapist, and works at a large church in Southern California. She lives with her husband and their two children--plus two rambunctious rescue dogs--in California.
In a world filled with bullying, school shootings, drugs, and a constant barrage of unrealistic images from social media, it is our young people who are suffering. They are becoming depressed, anxious, and even afraid. Family therapist Cyndie Claypool de Neve believes that today's youth need to develop a confidence that comes from them knowing God personally and a belief that He has created each of them for a special purpose. In this new book she shares practical advice and professional knowledge to create a wonderful resource for parents. God-confident kids should be the goal of all Christian parents and the tips, stories, and Bible scripture found in this book are great tools to help achieve this goal.
I recommend God-Confident Kids to parents, grandparents, and anyone who works with young people.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher Baker Books but a positive review was not required and no monetary compensation was given. These are my own thoughts.
I was very excited to be able to read God-Confident Kids by Cyndie Claypool de Neve. I loved this book because it's practical and real! Cyndie offers advice, wisdom and insight to moms of children ages toddler to young adult!
In God-Confident Kids Cyndie talks about faith vs. fear, releasing your kids (!), fostering your children's strengths, teaching your children to pray (in a very practical way) and scripture prayers for your child. Cyndie reminds us that we are not our child's Holy Spirit! She also gives some good insight into praying for your child's future spouse and specific guidance for all ages and stages. Cyndie draws on her experience as a marriage and family therapist to offer her insight and expertise.
I particularly liked the specific verses to combat fear on page 159.
In God-Confident Kids Cyndie offers treasure of resources to help your child grow in their confidence in Christ and confidence in life. I was given a free copy from the publisher for my honest review. I was happy to do that and recommend God-Confident Kids!
