About the Book

"Little readers are reminded that God made great galaxies, vast oceans, whales, and snowflakes, but he also created a very special you"--

Book Synopsis

This uplifting picture book celebrates God's creation of the world--and of each unique child.

God made you. But why? After all, he made great galaxies and vast oceans and fascinating flamingoes. Isn't that enough?

Through brilliant rhymes and vivid word pictures, author Chelsea Tornetto reminds little readers that to God, the mountains and the whales and the snowflakes were never enough. To our loving Creator, the beautiful world that he made was always incomplete without one very special piece--you.

About the Author

Chelsea Tornetto is an author, world geography teacher, and mom who has been writing ever since she was a kid. Her first book, Conquering Content Vocabulary, was published by Scholastic in 2018, but now her passion is picture books. In both the classroom and in her books, her goal is to help kids fall in love with the wonders of our world and to introduce them to places and people beyond their own backyard. She lives in Jackson, Missouri, with her husband, Mike, her two kids, Tessa and Milo, and a miniature dachshund named Stella. She loves snow days, lattes, and summer. She hates spiders, her sinuses, and laundry.

Kimberley Barnes grew up on the Isle of Wight reading books and drawing whenever she had the chance. She earned a degree in Illustration from the University of Lincoln and began focusing on children's illustration, leading her to a career she loves. When she's not illustrating, she loves to bake and do some gardening and take short walks in the sunshine by the canal next to her home. Kimberley lives on the Isle of Wight, UK, with her fiancé and two children.

God loves us and wants us to trust and believe in him. I love reading stories like this to my kids because it’s the truth. We are all loved by God . “I will praise You because I have been fearfully and wonderfully made”.

Look at the great big world, take note of all that is in it, including incredible animals of every type. It is amazing. Think about the marvels in space: the stars, the moons, planets and comets. God created each one, and thought them all good. Despite all those incredible things, there was still one thing missing to make everything complete—He needed to make you! This delightful picture book tells this story with rhyming verse—sure to tickle the ears of little ones. The highlight of the story is that God does not see everything as perfect until He creates the child. Small ones will understand how much God loves them, and how special they are. This hard-backed, five-star book is a delight to the eyes because of the beautifully colored illustrations that fill it. I recommend this for children through second grade. Worthy Publishing has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, God Made You Too, for the purpose of review.

Beautiful Illustrations and a Lovely Message

This book has such a sweet message for everyone (not just children). It would be a perfect bedtime book to remind children just how much the creator of the universe loves them. The poetic lines run smoothly, and the illustrations are beautiful. I like how the artist included some handicapped children in the pictures. It really does help drive home just how special everyone is (no matter what) because "God made them too!"

“The God who gave each heart a beat, somehow he always knew the world needed a special gift, sweet child – he made you too!” Chelsea Tornetto ends her children’s book, God Made You Too. ~ What ~ This thirty-two page-page hardbound targets children ages four to seven-years-old. With no scary scenes, it contains how the same God who created the universe and all that is in it also created us. Colorful, engaging, and fun illustrations cover both sides of the pages with an easy-to-read font size. This short read for kids reminds them how the Almighty not only created our amazing world, the deep blue sea, the beauty of the land, the interesting animals, and the four seasons, but He also made each of us differently and specifically. ~Why ~ This is a lovely rhyming book that kids can enjoy looking at the expressive, detailed artwork while recalling that God made everything around us. I appreciate how often the writer states “and so he made YOU too!” Including a Bible verse at the end is enduring. ~ Why Not ~ Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like a book that talks about God making all things, especially if they believe in evolution. There are a few two- and three-syllable words beginner readers may have trouble pronouncing. ~ Wish ~ I wish all pronouns of God were capitalized for reverence. The book could be targeted toward toddlers too. ~ Want ~ If you are looking for a cute book that teaches how God made everything including precious young readers, this would be a nice bedtime read. Thanks to Hachette Book Group, WorthyKids, and the author for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.
