So far i am not impressed with the 6a. Compared to the 4a I previously had, it seems like the battery depletes a lot faster and it's really sluggish about checking for emails and messages. Sometimes I have to restart it to get it to check for messages correctly. There are other things, but they may not be related to individual apps not the phone, for example not acknowledging my location despite fiddling with location and app settings. I never had any complaints about my 4a until water or dust got into the charging port and nothing seemed to help. I don't know if my impressions of the phone will allow me to trade it in or not. I don't know if a replacement 6a will be any better. I have read some third party reviews that said that the 4a is better than the 6a in some ways (probably battery performance for sure!) and I think I should have paid more attention.

I have used a Pixel 3a and LG G7 for the last few years, mostly happy but thought this phone looked like a solid value. Big mistake - all the quality feel that the 3a and my girlfriend's 4a had is gone with this tacky plastic monster. It already feels cheap in your hand with a very odd and unbalanced weight, then the screen starts to distort under very light touch pressure. The screen brightness is woeful even at the highest settings, doesn't feel any faster than the 3a or 4a. There's a constantly present screen lag on scrolling that's just barely perceptible but registers as a little hiccup where other phones don't, it's very annoying - it feels like I'm using a touch screen on a car infotainment system from 10 years ago. The battery life is acceptable but I really can't find any redeeming qualities of this phone. With a lot of good manufacturers dropping out the past few years, I'm not sure what the answer is at this price point, but it's definitely not this phone. I had it for around 3 weeks and couldn't deal with it anymore and went back to my Pixel 3a with a dying battery. Please don't accept this garbage device as an "upgrade" over previous models, it's pure cost cutting.

Battery life on this phone is terrible. I'm not a heavy user and I still can't get to the end of a day without recharging. It does charge fast but my 5a lasted much longer. I turned off notifications and other stuff but made no difference. The finger sensor is not very sensitive either. The 5a was better. I also have trouble connecting with wifi. Just disappointing!

I should have known it was $100 off for a reason. The hardware isn't bad for the price point. HOWEVER, the software on this phone is buggy, and is clearly engineered to force the Google Assistant and advertising on the user. The UI isn't intuitive IMO and I'M CONSTANTLY FIGHTING TO GET IT TO DO WHAT I WANT IT TO DO. Also, the battery life isn’t impressive. I feel like I need to buy a battery pack to carry around with this thing. If you turn on power saving be prepared to wait—fine that it turns off the 5G but the LTE is as slow as dial up and a lot of stuff just doesn’t load in the browser. Maybe updates will fix all this but its a half-baked potato as is.

Overall it is pretty average when it comes to features like the camera, the screen, sound quality, etc. But what really sets it apart are it's advanced features which I really love. The two features that I really like are the translator and google lens. With google lens you can take a photo using your phone camera and it will run a google search for the photo so you can pull up any information you want. For example have you ever walked outside and saw a neat plant and wondered what it was? Well with Google Lens you can find out. Regarding the translator you can use it to translate voice from one language to another or to translate text which comes in really handy when you live in a State that often has Spanish signs up instead of English. The last thing I really love with this phone is that the locked screen has a space for information that you would find interesting. For example with my old phone I had to unlock the phone to see how many minutes were left on a timer but with this phone I can just press the power button and the minutes left will be displayed on the locked screen which makes tracking your breaks convenient. Overall with the features I have listed and the other ones that this phone has I would gladly recommend this phone to anyone looking for a good phone.

Overall, a great phone!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Taking Google’s Pixel 6a for a test drive after extensively using the Pixel 6 as my daily-driver for the past 9 months was a comfortable, smooth ride – unsurprisingly. Right out of the box, the smaller form-factor and lighter weight immediately relieved my palm of the arduous heft that is now common to today’s flagship phablets from the big three handheld device manufacturers. Compared to the Pixel 6, the 6a feels much more natural to handle and easier to navigate, as opposed to the ‘top-heavy’ feeling from the larger and longer screens associated with the top-tier premium smartphones. The lack of bulk comes at a small price in the reduced megapixel camera, lesser RAM, and smaller storage; but make no mistake, this phone does almost everything its older, more powerful, bigger brothers can do. Snappy and as responsive as you’d expect Google’s newest flagship line to perform. Out of the package, the new G2 Tensor chip paired with the Android 12 operating system, stands to outperform almost every competitor’s phone in the equivalent price-range. As of this review, after the initial setup, a notification popped up to upgrade to the latest operating system: Android 13. The only feature that I actually do miss in this iteration, is the ability to charge the device wirelessly. Not a big issue for some, though many of my chargers, including my nightly charging stand, are wireless. This is due to the lack of a glass back, of which, both of the other Pixel’s in the 6a’s generation contain. This, however, leads to the lighter weight and increased portability of this incredibly capable smartphone. The battery life seems to be an improvement over the more memory intensive models out there, and I routinely get a full day of regular usage, winding down to around 55% just before bedtime, despite having a smaller milliamp/hour capacity. All in all, a great choice, and the perfect price-point for the opportunity to step into this generation’s line-up of exceptional Pixel smartphones.

The material feels nice. Seems sturdy and should be able to handle Some bumps or bangs. Only reason a four and not five stars is the beveled edge around where the camera lens is. Not sure why it is elevated and not smooth. It’s not too noticeable but it is there. I’m sure there must be some reason for this! Defn worth trying. You won’t be disappointed

I was able to buy this phone and take it to my carrier to set up. Having had an older version of the pixel, the setup was quick and minimal. Google really knows their stuff and makes things very intuitive. I did notice while setting up that the phone gets warm. What is up with that. Is this something that google technical team is aware and can provide an update? This is the only reason i did not give the quality a 5star.
