The HALO SleepSack self-soothing swaddle is designed for infants who resist arms down swaddling and instead prefer to bring their hands to their mouth to self-soothe. Its unique silicone teethers offer soothing relief to baby gums. 4-way stretch cotton allows the self-soothing swaddle to give your baby a snug, comforting fit. Your baby will feel secure allowing for a more restful sleep. While the swaddle's roomy sack design supports continued healthy hip development. Plus, a two-way zipper with tab covers at top and bottom allows for easy dressing and diaper changes. Use over regular sleepwear to take the place of loose blankets. It's important to stop swaddling when your baby shows signs of rolling. 95% cotton, 5% spandex, 4-way stretch. TOG 0.5; size newborn fits 6-10 lbs, size small fits 11-18 lbs.
I will start by saying my son loves the Love to Dream swaddles which are very similar to this. He hates having his arms swaddled, but continually woke himself up if we left them out. The Love to Dream swaddles helped that. We had been using those for awhile before trying this one.
I was very excited about the teething options on this one because my son always sucks on his hands in the love to dream swaddle so I figured he would love this feature. He had a hard time getting them into his mouth in this one though. I think the pockets were his hands go are too small so he can’t really get his hands in there far enough to move them where he wants them to be.
Another problem with the pockets for his hands being so small is that he always seems to manage to get his arms out of the arm part and stuck down by his stomach like a typically swaddle. As I mentioned earlier- he hates this.
Overall, I think this product has a lot of potential with just a few small tweaks. I did like it, just not as much as the Love to Dream swaddles.
The fabric/style of this product is adorable and high quality. I loved how soft it was. My little one loves to suck on her fingers so I thought this would be a great product for her. Unfortunately, the garment was so tight in the upper body that she couldn’t get the self-soothing pieces to her mouth. My daughter is definitely on the larger size for a 2 mo old (15 lbs). She also has very long limbs. Maybe this would work better for a smaller infant? Although, she is within the weight range specified...
This sleepsack uses a great quality soft fabric and easy to use zipper. My little one didn't use the teethers on the end, yet she won't even take a paci and prefers her own hands. I thought I would give this a try, as I can see how this would be a great solution for self soothing. She is only 2 months, so I will certainly try this sleepsack again.
Unlike other reviewers I don't find this swaddle to be too tight. I have the size small and my baby is 11 lbs, about the 30th percentile if that helps.
Pros: Super soft, convenient access to do middle of the night diaper changes with the double zipper, nice and wide around the legs (she likes to kick!), and cute! The material seems like a good quality, and ideal for warmer summer nights.
Cons: There are little pockets inside the swaddle for baby's hands so they can guide the teether to their mouth, but my baby never kept her hands tucked up high enough to be in the teether. The teether section is also rather large in my opinion, so if she's using a paci, it sometimes gets stuck between her face and the teether when she spits it out.
If your baby doesn't take a pacifier and still needs to be swaddled, I think this would be the swaddle for you - especially if your babe doesn't like their hands down at their sides!
This swaddle is super soft and the zipper makes it easy to use. My 6-week-old hasnt figured out the teethers yet, but hopefully she will! In the meantime, she sleeps well because her arms aren’t flailing. The neck fits snugly, but doesn’t seem to bother her.
My daughter loves this swaddle! At 12 weeks of age, she was beginning to break out of her tradition Halo swaddle and the Self-Soothing Swaddle design allowed her to have her arms above her head while simultaneously giving her the ability to put her hands in her mouth, if necessary. The plastic protection on the hands provides a nice “chew toy” and protects the swaddle from drool saturation. Inside the swaddle, there are hand mits so her hands/arms don’t move around within the garment and there is a ton of leg room (she's a kicker!). The cotton fabric is cool to the touch and of high quality.
We tried this swaddle for my 2 month old daughter. I love how light the fabric is (perfect for warm summer nights) and how much leg room she had (she’s a kicker)! She typically likes to be swaddled with her hands by her face, so she didn’t love not having her hands available. Also, the neck felt very tight, which was a little uncomfortable for her. I like the product, just not a good fit for our girl.
