Q: Since this is not glass, and there is no sound, how do I know when the water is ready? Is the viewing window illuminated?

A: it doesn't take long... the water boils. you see steam hear the boiling the unit turns off. you pour the hot water. like a normal non whistling kettle.

Q: How long does 1 L water stay hot?

A: I've had mine a couple years, I'd say it stays hot for about 30 minutes, but you can just click the button to warm it up again and don't have to wait the full time for it to boil. It's a great pot. I use it almost every day.

A: Thank you for your question. 0.6L is the minimum amount that will need to be used in the appliance. Anything less than the minimum amount will cause the appliance not to shut of automatically.

Not much to say beyond it is a decent electric kettle that heats up water pretty quickly! Love this for making tea or instant coffee. It doesn't keep the water hot, but if you need to heat it back up, it does it pretty quick. A good enough kettle for the price that I went back and bought a second - one for home and one for work.

The lid doesn't close. I have to try to close it multiple times. And when water start boiling the lid opens. Once it opens it doesn't close. I'll exchange this and see if the product I got only has the issue...

Its perfect! We live in a very tiny apartment and im pregnant and wanted something to make my tea in very easily. it took maybe a few minutes to boil and finish. i plugged it in turned it on and it immediately started, then shut off when it was done which is a great feature! I poured it into my mug with my teabag in it and it is still piping hot even after i finished making breakfast so im very happy it doesn’t cool down quickly. I read through the reviews and some scared me but i promise you it works and I have no complaints! I will recommend this to everyone i know!

I love my new Hamilton Beach 1L Electric Kettle. It is so nice to use for cups of tea and instant "just add water" foodstuff. It heats up faster than my glass kettle that preceded this which died and is easier to store than the glass one. Stainless steel is a much better material for a kettle. Also love the old-timey switch that turns on and off when the water strikes the boil. Highly recommended!

I love the easiness of use and the quickness of this kettle. It’s not overwhelming on my counter. When visitors used my Keurig, there would always be an aftertaste of vanilla or whatever flavor they used so I wanted a separate device to heat water for tea. I had been using a pan of water on my gas stove, but this is more convenient. I was lucky and got it on sale.

The mesh filter melts over time… why is it made of plastic? I’m disappointed as the kettle have lasted for a long time and works well otherwise. This is a pretty crucial design mistake.
