Q: What kind of filter is used, reusable or disposable?

A: Reusable. Coffee grounds are put into a brew basket which acts as a coarse filter. From there the brewed coffee drips down into a woven mesh fine filter. This filter needs to be rinsed out about every fourth cup of coffee before it plugs up.

That works well for people who like to have the oils from the coffee in their cup. However, you can also add a disposable AeroPress paper filters if you like a more mellow brew.

A: Some parts are stainless steel while others are plastic. The scoop filter that holds the coffee grounds is stainless steel, also the fine mesh of the filter underneath is also a steel mesh. The rest of the mesh filter and the drip spout underneath are plastic.

Q: Can you use Kcups with this?

A: No, it does not accept Kcups or their equivalent. However, it is very easy to use and you don't have to feel guilty about the Kcup waste. Simply fill the small container in the front with ground coffee, add water to the top, and press brew (the bold option creates very flavorful coffee). I've had this little machine for about a year and I love it.

I like my decision to not do another Kierig like I’ve had for last 10 years.(5 machines over that time frame!) This was a good buy even if it only lasts as long as a Kierig, LOL. This coffee maker is perfect for those who just want a cup or two in the morning. You can use your own coffee and not worrying about Kcups. Definitely cheaper way to keep up with coffee supply. I use a large coffee cup with 14oz of water, full scoop of coffee and set on bold. I end up with 12 oz and room for creamer. No overflowing or weak coffee experienced. You will have to adjust setting and amount of ground coffee to your liking.

Loved this easy to use 1 travel mug coffee maker. I liked that I wasn’t using plastic k cups. But - after a year and half it broke. Something in the electronics doesn’t work snd now I can’t turn it on. Hoping Target will replace it.

Great quality! Does not look cheap at all! Almost as quick as a pod coffee maker. Since the coffee brews a few moments longer than a pod coffee makes, I think the coffee tastes better. Easy to clean and with the 2 filter design, it doesn't require a paper filter.

Such a waste of money! I bought this for our camper and unfortunately missed the return window date but didn’t think there would be a problem! Tried it these past two weekends, followed all directions and using Dunkin Donuts coffee. It’s HoRRIBLE!! Watered down worst tasting coffee ever and I know it’s not the grinds bc I used the exact same before leaving for camping with my keurig! Ugh! So mad such a waste! Should have just went with the Keurig and spent a little more! To the gas station we go on our camping trips till I buy a keurig! So annoyed!!! $45 down the drain!

Haven’t brewed coffee yet but when following instructions on cleaning before use, the amount of water added vs the amount of water that filtered through was way off. I put in 14 ozs and about 4-5 ozs came through. I repeated the process three times as required. Will try again hopefully with better results.

So happy I purchased this one cup coffee maker! I wasn’t expecting much as the price is so reasonable, but it works perfectly and the coffee I great! I’ve been through a couple of the more expensive name-brand single serve coffee makers - I don’t think paying more guarantees it lasts longer. Also, I like that you use your own coffee - not the pods. It’s simple to use - I found the other ones to be fussy to use your own coffee. The Hamilton Beach is easy to clean too. I plan on buying another one for our vacation cottage. I would definitely recommend this!

I was against k-cups due to the major amount of waste and was using Keurig with a refillable filter basket. This coffee maker is SO much easier than that, takes up less space, looks better and, in my opinion, brews better coffee. The water flows through the coffee at a slower pace - I compared it to the Keurig - and has an option to slow things down even more with a bold setting. Superior taste to the Keurig. Love it!

I have had this coffee maker since 2010, and it still works just as well as the day I got it! It has survived over 10 moves and has been used daily. Cleaning inside the machine from water buildup is the only catchy thing, but overall—best $30 (at the time) I could have spent! I have a number of friends and family who purchased it after me, and they all love it too! Beats buying k-cups all the time!

I love it! In order to avoid splashes the metal grill flips over and inserts for a single cup and then flip for larger cup. You can see what I mean by looking on the box. We did not know that and I honestly did not read the instructions when we first got it. I did have splashes and wondered why they would have designed it like that but then realized it was our error. I use the reusable Kcup Pod for measuring and had to play around with how much water to add but found the right amount and I think it is made way better and does not clog like other name brand single coffee cup brewers with disposable Pods. I think the design is great and well made basket for holding coffee.
