Description
The forces of evil are threatening to overrun Hogwarts castle in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle, a cooperative deck-building game, and it's up to four students to ensure the safety of the school by defeating villains and consolidating their defenses. In the game, players take on the role of a Hogwarts student: Harry, Ron, Hermione or Neville, each with their own personal deck of cards that's used to acquire resources.
By gaining influence, players add more cards to their deck in the form of iconic characters, spells, and magical items. Other cards allow them to regain health or fight against villains, keeping them from gaining power. The villains set back players with their attacks and Dark Arts. Only by working together will players be able to defeat all of the villains, securing the castle from the forces of evil.

Nevile Longbottom and the friends that obliterate all

Good entry level deck building game. Great if you like the movies as well ...Although I just find it funny that every time me and my sisters play this, we all pick Ron, Hermionie and Nevile. Never Harry. He's had his day in the sun. Consider this the 'If Nevile was the chosen one instead' AU. The answer is, he spends his days healing his friends while they pull out more rediculous turns than he can because he loaded his deck with support.

Such a great collaborative game and really fun to play. It can take a long time to finish especially when using higher levels.

This is our FAVORITE game! I love how it progresses through the books and gets more difficult as it moves along. I would recommend this to both new gamers and seasoned gamers alike. Get this game!
Great family game.

It's really hard to find a game that not only appeals to both a kindergartner and a middle schooler but also caters to both of their ability levels. Since this game is cooperative, we can help our pre-reader out with the text. After one round, he was able to decipher the symbols and was helping direct gameplay. The parts are of good quality and the storage is great as you open the different levels.
Utterly terrible

This might be something for a family that's very into overly complicated board games but as players of things like Ticket to Ride, Settlers of Caton etc I find this game just terrible. There are far too many types of cards and pieces, the game comes with several sets of "games" that require certain sets of cards to be laid out in very specific ways. Our kids were excited to look at the game so they opened up several sets of cards to look through them and now trying to get them back into their original required starting points to play the game is all but impossible. I am not normally one to post up a review rant but I am just extremely disappointed.

Cannot stop playing this game! It hooks you within the first few card decks and then becomes more and more challenging as you move on through the game.

The game pieces and board is well made and very pretty, giving it extra appeal. The game itself is so fun! Awesome Harry Potter game and very book like (just uses movie pictures and stuff) and the playing of the game very interesting and entertaining! We’re not 100% sure we play the game completely correct since some instructions were harder to follow and some rules never really defined. But we tried our best and learned along the way. I do agree with one reviewer who said some house rules would make it more fun. And another reviewer who said that the first game can be played by younger kids. We had a 7 year old play and they did great. As the game progresses it does get harder but if they can read, they can be helped and still play. We got it on sale and with an additional circle deal. Not sure I would pay $50 for a game but it’s about 7 in 1. So there’s that.

I love Deck-building games and with it also being Harry Potter made it interesting for the gameplay, the game is very simple to understand even for young players that can't read very easily and even the cooperative parts are easy enough for them to understand
wonderful game

This is one of the best games I have ever played. It is a deck building game and it goes through each year. It builds through the years of Hogwarts so seamlessly and it challenging each time we play.
A must have!

This game is currently my favorite game to play solo. While it’s not labeled to play solo, the game is simple enough to keep track of 2 characters easily enough to still be enjoyable. It beats out other games I play solo that are either: borderline too hard to keep track of two characters, games with an automa feature, or solo variants that are essentially a puzzle/beat your high score. I have played this with my wife as well and this is her favorite game of mine (which is saying a lot since she’s tried a lot and she’s not a gamer). What this game lacks in complexity (compared to other hit designer board games on the market) it makes up for in theme and nostalgia. If you don’t like Harry Potter this game probably won’t resonate as much with you. I really enjoyed playing through each year. My biggest issue with the game is its balance issues. Out of the dozen games or so I’ve played with it I’ve found that you either win or lose in the first quarter of the game. Essentially, you either get overpowered and don’t have a chance very quickly or your characters get powerful enough that nothing will phase you and there is no real danger in losing. That being said if you enjoy the game as much as me you can initiate some house rules to help keep the tension up fairly easily. The other con I’d mention is that once you start playing year 7 (the full game) the game can go upwards of 2 hrs (maybe even more if you are playing at a higher player count). Again I think there are house rules you can do for setup that can help alleviate the time and balance problems. Overall out of my collection this is the game I’ve been reaching for lately!

My 7 year old and 11 year old are huge fans of HP and love this game. The first six are not so hard, the last game is bit lore strategic.

As my kids are growing out of kiddish board games, we needed something for family night. Once we got the hang of it, like all the dark arts cards & consequences for villains, this is so much fun!! We played all 7 games in 2 days.

Complicated game for those who like deck building style games. Not for children- would play with teenagers and up. Beginning games 1-3 take an hour or so each, later games can take 3-4 hours or a whole evening. Many details to this game make it special- the villains, the locations, and each characters special abilities. Overall, highly recommend this game, esp if home in quarantine with a lot of time on your hands; even after beating it once, my SO and I plan to replay again so it’s pretty good!
