Author Andr&’e& Sirois teaches filmmaking and popular culture at the University of Oregon; he is also a DJ known as DJ Foodstamp, and founder of a nonprofit archive called DJistory/DJpedia. In this work for students and general readers, he explores the synergistic relationship between DJ culture and industry. He draws on interviews with DJs as well as technology innovators to consider how technology has influenced the history and culture of hip-hop DJs, and how DJs have also influenced technological developments.
