About this item

This book presents a poem that gives a fictional account of the events of the Second Carib War fought in the late 18th century between Great Britain and the Garifuna, who were then known as the Black Caribs of St. Vincent and who were aided in the war by the Revolutionary French forces. The poem was written in the years after the conflict by priest Horatio Nelson Huggins, who drew on official reports as well as eyewitness reports and local legends.
