The icing takes FOREVER to dry. I bet you it would take a whole day to. The taste is decent, but I don’t recommend you to buy this with the icing it came with. It defeats the whole purpose of the product. If you don’t have super glue or hot glue it is a waste of time to try to stick everything together. Our three year old wanted to eat it after we decorated it. So in the end he just ate the house unbuilt.
The icing did not hold up the sides at all even following the instructions carefully. Product says it is guaranteed. How do we get a refund? In addition to the sides not sticking there’s no way that the roof would hold. Multiple attempts even with glue adhesive ended in tears,
Worst gingerbread house kit I have ever bought. Nothing stays together. Used all the frosting trying to get it to stay together. Definitely not worth $10 and very disappointed. My child was heart broken that it wouldn’t stay together.
Absolutely awful experience. Because they are cheap (as they ought to be!) I ordered two. Good thing I did. Each came with multiple breakages. From the two kits I was able to cobble together enough gingerbread to use. But I still had to glue together two pieces, which happily were broken cleanly. Having lots of experience building gingerbread houses, I didn't follow the directions for the chimney/roof piece, which were incomprehensible. Made a chimney using my imagination and pieces of candy I h
ad bought separately. Since the candy in all these kits is nothing to write home about, it is worth is to buy good candy -- as I always do. Only thing I can say is that buying two gave me two packages of "glue," which was useful.
What a disappointment, all the pieces were broken, we tried to out them together, and when it looked like it worked, it crumbled once we put the roof on top. Not buying again, my little guy was so sad of not been able to decorate it.
Do not buy this. We purchased in-store. Every piece but two were broken beyond use. Now I understand why so many of the packages had been opened in the store... people were checking to make sure pieces were whole. We salvaged a gingerbread hut and a life lesson not to sweat the small stuff. Save your money, the gingerbread doesn't even taste good.
Good, basic kit for the more artistically inclined. I advise against “snapping” the pieces apart; rather, I used a serrated crafting knife. Also key: construct entire house while anchoring it onto a tray/plate/board - and THEN let the little ones participate in the decorating. The box art is merely a suggestion; kids won’t be able to replicate. Also VERY helpful to me was using different gauges of icing tips for pastry bags.
If I could give this gingerbread house zero stars I would. This took over two hours just to construct and keep the gingerbread house together. After several attempts of putting the gingerbread house together and using almost all of the icing it still would not stick together. This is an annual tradition for me and my friends. And this was the worst year ever because of this product. Me and my friends were very disappointed. Never get this.
