A: The Honeywell Filter Free Cool Mist Humidifier that I just bought at a Target in MN (May 3rd 2021) model # HUL535W says on the box NEW Essential Oil Feature, so they must have recently added this feature.

Q: Is it easy to clean?

A: yes, I cleaned it once a week with white vinegar and warm water, let it sit 15 minutes and rinsed with lots of cool water and had no problems with it.

Q: Is this unit very quiet? I have another brand's humidifier that makes an annoying dripping/gurgling sound as it runs.

A: Thank you for your inquiry. This unit is very quiet as it runs. However, you may still hear this unit make gurgling noises and dripping noises when it is run, especially on high. While normally unobtrusive, some people will hear these noises as the dripping comes from water leaving the water tank, and then air entering the tank to replace the water, entering in as air bubbles. The motor started making loud noise in the middle of the night within two months. Moved to the living room for day use, motor got louder and finally died. Total of three months of life before it ended up in the trash and electronic recycle. Horrible waste of money and more plastic in the landfill.

The humidifier works just fine, but it’s impossible to refill without dripping water all over the floor. When you lift the top off the base water drips everywhere and it’s definitely inconvenient

Do not buy!! On 4 different occasions, the opening at the bottom where you fill with water, FELL OFF while tipping it back into the upright position. I triple checked each time following the first incident to ensure that the lid was securely closed and locked, however, all the water continued to find a way all over the counter and my floors!

Do not buy. This is loud and makes a terrible dripping sound all night. I cannot sleep with it in. Also, the setting for low and high seem like the same amount of water vapor. This is a disappointing product for the $$ it costs.

Used to buy this model humidifier every year but they must’ve changed the design with the addition of the vapor cartridge. It now makes the worst dripping sound like a faucet all night long, the bottom does not seal well and the mist is much harder to control. Bought two and both are going back

This humidifier would probably be great for a larger area. I needed it in an upstairs area that’s a bit small. Even at the lowest setting, everything was WET. I’m not sure if I just got a faulty one or what, but it left the carpet wet around it. I tried elevating it further, since it was on an old plant stand I wasn’t using, so I figured maybe it just wasn’t high enough. Lifted it higher and still the same problem. Condensation on my window constantly. It was just so wet and my house plant in the room started growing mold within 2 weeks of having this thing. I live in a very dry climate, so you’d think this would be good.. apparently not, haha! Worried about mold growing in other places, so I will be returning it. Might be a good purchase for a larger area.

This is a recipe for disaster. Looks good from the box but once you start using it, it’s a complete mess water literally everywhere coming out from everywhere. Terrible design save your money and get one that is worth your money.

Love the high mist output. It fills my master bedroom easily. It does have a drippy/bubbly sound but I’ve never had a humidifier that didn’t make water related sounds. I don’t think it’s very loud but after reading other’s reviews, it clearly bothers some people so if you’re bothered by subtle noises at night good luck finding another humidifier. I bought this for my toddler who is having trouble sleeping through the night due to coughing, seems to have helped so far.

This gurgling or bubble sound is completely normal when you turn on your humidifier for the first time. The sound will decrease after it runs for a few hours. If you are sensitive to sounds and plan to use your humidifier at night, we recommend for the first use, run your humidifier during the day for a few hours. But for one thing, this humidifier would be perfect. It's cool, puts out lots of mist, and the slight gurgling is not a problem - but the faint, high-pitched, continuous whine is very annoying. This was planned for a bedroom, but now it will have to be in a different room and used during the day. Still debating whether or not to return it.

I set up the humidifier as soon as I got home from Target. Simple set up and the mist comes out really well. The only problem was this constant higher pitched bubble sound. I called the manufacturer and they're sending out a new one, but it won't be here for a few days. In the meantime I'll have to stick it out with a noisy one, because I'm sick and really need it. I was given the option to return it to the store to get a new one, but it was the last one on the shelves, so that's not an option. Also a few things to note: Instructions say to have humidifier plugged into the wall, at least four feet away from the bed, and a foot away from the wall. That's not really a convenient set up for me, but I'm making it work. It's nice that there's no filter to worry about, but the cleaning (which is supposed to be every week) seems a little involved and requires both bleach and a good amount of vinegar. The reservoir needs 2 cups vinegar and the base needs a tsp of bleach to clean. And they have to be cleaned seperately. I wish it were a little easier than that, but there you have it.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. As water drains from the unit into the base, air needs to enter the tank to equalize the pressure. As water is released into the base, a 'gurgling' noise can be heard as air enters the tank. This is normal for this humidifier while it is producing output. We hope you find this information helpful. This product works very well for my needs. I've been using it basically nonstop since I brought it home. The scent tray is nice but it maybe doesn't smell as strongly as people will be expecting; I put a lot in the tray too. The tank capacity is awesome because I can fill it once and use it all day and almost all night also. The tank does have to be lifted off the base and flipped upside down to fill, but just do it near a sink or drain the first few times to get the hang of it. It only dribbles a little, not going to be a huge mess! Don't be scared. It also does make somewhat of a burping/gurgling sound occasionally when it is on because of the water obviously but I know some people expect complete silence, not realistic. It does leave a slight white residue on the outside of the tank but that can be wiped off no problem. The base did not leak at all! And I set it on a wooden surface and it was fine, just don't leave it running near books/papers. :)
