Honeywell 811553 Digital, fire and water chest safe with programmable lock, has verified 30 minute fire protection for documents and digital media. It also offers 80 hours of waterproof protection when completely submerged in up to 1 meter of water. The Digital Lock is a unique feature that allows the consumer to set a personal 6-digit code. The compression lock function secures the lid immediately when closed. The consumer no longer needs to worry about locating their lost or missing keys. This model features a molded interior with convenient user and operation and access. It is a light weight molded chest with convenient carry handle, that holds letter size paper, protects digital media, and personal items.

Q: I am unable to reset the basic code combination that is given in the instructions. When I press the reset button, all I get is a flashing green light. It never flashes red like it says it should.

I thought this was a document safe. A standard 8x11 piece of paper doesn't fit in here nor does it lie flat. I'm not folding my precious documents in here. Also if it's only flame resistant for 30 minutes, it defeats the purpose. I can't fit my flame resistant document holder in here either. Really pointless product, if you have smaller stuff you don't need a safe this big or heavy. No one seems to make a safe that is an in between size that actually fits papers. Why do I need to buy a massive wall safe just for some papers? Consider re-designing a useful product and email me when it's ready @ target stores.

This thing is heavy!! To me, that is a good thing. I like that it has the keypad and also back-up keys. It’s plenty big enough for paperwork, jewelry, a handgun, and small-medium sized keepsakes. Because it is smaller, it is easy to store relatively discretely if you need that. I haven’t tested (and hopefully never will) the fire/water-proof features, but I feel certain it will live up to those standards.

It is not advertised that you have to air it out. On the inside in tiny faint letters it says you have to air it out for 30 minutes each week. Who would do that? After leaving some important documents in it for a few months, I opened it and our passports were growing mold. It also can't hold the standard 8"×11" paper without folding.

Dear Tyler, Thank you for your feedback. For optimum performance, Waterproof Fire Chests should be opened and aired out for at least 30 minutes every week to prevent any build up of moisture inside. It is recommended to occasionally do this for longer periods.

Buy AAA batteries for this to work. You can open it with a key or with a pin. The container is pretty heavy I wouldn’t be able to run while carrying it.

Having curved corners someone defeats the purpose of this being “document sized” because after a few pieces of paper everything will start to curl up on the edges. Not exactly ideal for wanting to store important documents that are “document sized.“
