The EnergySmart Electric Radiator from Honeywell® provides steady, quiet, efficient electric heating. The unit allows users to customize their heating experience with features such as digital controls, 3 heat settings, a programmable thermostat and a 1-12 hour auto-off timer. In addition to EnergySmart technology, which helps to regulate power consumption, this heater is also designed with an Energy Usage Indicator, which displays the amount of energy used at any given time. These features combined with excellent safety attributes make the HZ-789 Digital Electric Radiator the right heater for efficient, whole room heating.
We have four electric oil heaters--two of them this Honeywell model. What sets this unit apart is the control panel. The user can set a temperature (albeit in 5 degree increments) and the unit then kicks into high or low power as needed to provide the needed warmth. This is very different from the other two heaters we have that have the user to set the power level and the desired temperature. I'd rather have the unit decide what power level is needed to reach temperature. Moreover, our other units have a very small, dark, display requiring a light be shone on it in the evenings to read their displays. And that display includes the time of day, which requires setting the clock each time I plug it in--which I ignore but is annoying. To those not accustomed to an oil heater, it's best to let it run for long periods or all day, as it slowly but effectively warms a room (we have the Honeywell units in 14' x 15' and 20' x 11' rooms with their doors open; set at 70 and 75 degrees w/outside temps in the low 40s in a drafty house near the shore and they are staying mostly on low power needing no help form the whole-house heat pump.) The unit does offer constant full or low power control (non-thermostat). Oh, and don't expect the world of a thermostat that is mounted on the heating unit, as the temperature 10 feet away will be different.
The Honeywell Energy Smart Electric Radiator Heater has been a godsend to have. It is a substantial oil-filled radiator type heater that does it's job well. It does take it a little while to heat up fully and is a bit heavy and clunky if you're expecting to move it around very much, but it is on wheels so that makes the job substantially easier. I would also caution against it's use around small children and animals because all parts of this heater get quite hot to the touch. It should also be placed far form any flammable materials/fabrics/etc. It can heat our entire downstairs area which is approximately 400 square feet within an hour and keep it at a very comfortable temperature. It has saved us money on our electricity because we can keep the thermostat on our heat pump turned down lower. Would reccomend if looking to save money on gas or electric or if you have no other heat source.
I love the sleek design with the hide a way handle. I love that there is different settings, temperatures, and you can set a timer. It works very well at heating small to medium sized rooms. If you're in the market for a energy efficient heater, that also looks good in the room, I would definitely recommend this heater.
