Horizon Organic Heavy Whipping Cream - 16 fl oz (1pt)

Horizon adds GUM to your Heavy Whipping Cream these days. There is NOTHING good about GUM in your food products. When we were kids we were always told “don’t swallow your GUM” for good reason! This is an additive our bodies don’t know how to process! It’s time to BOYCOT this behavior!

I’ve used Horizon products for many years and always loved its whipping cream’s buttery taste. Yet upon my return home after being out of the country for some time I’ve discovered that Horizon Whipping Cream has joined the others and added a thickener. Now the wonderful taste is gone along with its original texture. Sadly, it’s not even close to the once delicious whipped cream I and my guests loved. Now I’ll be looking elsewhere for my whipping cream. Sad to say, “Goodbye, Horizon…”

Why oh why can’t we have things that are additive free? Gellan gum is used to disguise a low quality product and make it ‘appear’ to be thick and creamy when it’s the gum. I used to use Horizon products but no longer. Seems they are selling fake cream gummed up. Disgusting that our entire food system is like this, even ‘organics’ What a farce!

This is ostensibly an organic product. The heavy cream is listed as organic. The gellan gum that is added to this product DOES NOT state it is organic. Is or is not the gellan gum organic? If it is, why does it not so state on the label? If it is not, this is not a product that is sourced from organic ingredients and Horizon is engaged in deceptive trade practices, at least as far as Texas law is concerned. Waiting for a response. I am assuming it is not organic gum, unless I see an assurance to the contrary here.

I don’t understand why did you add gum to the heavy cream, the texture is off leaves strange film on my coffee. Real cream doesn’t need gum.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don't have much need for heavy whipping cream. But when I have recipe that calls for it, I always go for Horizon! It whips quickly and evenly to the required thickness. There is never any need to add any sugar.

I look for organic products to be clean and only contain the ingredients they need to. So sad and disappointed to see gellan gum added to heavy cream. There is no reason.

Only heavy whipping cream I have found that is not full of junk additives. Wish it was available in more stores.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great with using eggs to make fluffy scrambled eggs. Lasts about 3 months or so in the fridge. My teen likes to use for all sort of scientific fun food creations.

There really is no reason to add a gum or thickener to cream if a good quality product is being sold. The people who care about purchasing organic items are often teh same people who care about not having unnecessary non-food items added to their foods.

What is gellan gum? Why is it in “organic” heavy whipping cream. I’m disappointed it’s in your product.

I've been purchasing the organic heavy whipping cream for a long time. I noticed that it has been getting thicker and thicker, even my children noticed and asked what was wrong with the cream. I read the label and discovered that it has added Gellan gum. It is not a pure organic product at all. I just purchased it again and it is even worse. It has so much added gum that it won't even pour out of the container or mix into the coffee or scrambled eggs. Very disappointed and looking for a different brand that is only cream.

When did you start adding Gellan gum to this product? I will not buy it anymore. I think you would sell more if you did not add it. We are happy to whip it a little longer!!
