The idea of this was cool, but our dragon hatched within seconds of turning it on. We did not have to tap, shake or aggravate the egg. We took the pegs out of the bottom and set it on the table. The top started cracking immediately and within 1 minute the shell was breaking apart and Toothless was coming out. My son was really disappointed in the hatching process but loves the dragon for now. I feel like you pay a little extra for the hatching process with this toy and it was definitely not worth it. I'm not sure how could return this item to Target already hatched, so I guess we'll play with it as is.
My son received this gift at Christmas. We tried to make it hatch and it never hatched, so we opened it... come to find out there wasn't a sensor in Toothless for him to activate for the egg to hatch. So we took it back to Target on December 26th, my store did not have any in stock nor did stores around me. So Target gave me money back until they got more in. So today as of December 28th, we were able to purchase another Hatching Toothless egg. And the replacement one has hatched and with the sensor in Toothless.
My boys love this toy. We all loved watching it hatch and playing with it. It is so cute how it interacts with you and you can teach it things. It does everything it says it's going to. I plan on buying a few more to see if they will interact with each other. (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)
Who wouldn't want to hatch and raise their own pet dragon?! MSRP a little high, but the quality is good and the kids (3 and 5 y.o. boys) had a blast!! (This review was collected as part of a promotion.)

This hatchable dragon is just absolutely adorable. My kids (boys &girls;) all enjoyed this toy. We sat and hatched toothless together. The kids loved it. I wish the egg was reusable but still lots of fun. Being able to hatch their own dragon was exciting. We will be purchasing more as so everyone has one. I do think they are a bit expensive for toothless. But they have hours of fun with it and the joy and excitement is worth it. I would purchase again and recommend to others. This adorable dragon was spot on for both of them to enjoy. My daughter's always wanted a hatching egg and my son loves How to Train Your Dragon! The hatching process was fun and interesting to watch. Their new friend Toothless has brought so much joy. It sparked a bigger interaction between them most importantly, lots of giggles. I love that it's impacted them in such a positive way. It makes my heart smile when I see them making beautiful memories together. Plus it's so adorable. It has different settings, which honestly is great beacuse sometimes they can lose interests pretty quick. His eyes light up green. He makes sounds (his plasma blast is so cute) and movements (head and wings). Feed him fish when he's hungry. You can ask him yes or no question, pass him around and play hot potato, have a roaring contest or just rock to some music together. Any How to Train Your Dragon fans out there? I got this toy free from the Family Rated Club to give my opinion on what I thought about it. This is a great toy for the kids. I would recommend this toy to friends and family or I would get this toy as a gift for another child. Its easy to play with. Kids loved playing with it.
