Never in 40 years, have I owned a HP printer that was so unrelieable. Frustrating can't truly express the emotion. It will not connect to my WiFi daily. Goes through ink like running water. This model should be off the market.
1 reply from HP Team team - 6 days ago
Hi there. I’m sorry that you’ve encountered difficulty with your printer. I can wholly understand why unreliable connectivity and rapid ink use would be a frustrating combination. I want to help you improve the device’s performance, so I’ll direct you to some resources and information aimed at making that happen. First, I recommend you visit a page on our support site that has diagnostic tools for various issues, including wireless connectivity. You can find that page here: - support.hp.com/us-en/topic/diagnostics Next, I can’t say for certain what’s happened with the ink supply in your case, but some printers come with what are known as setup cartridges, which have a lower capacity than regular or XL cartridges, and less still than ones in our Instant Ink program. If you’ve used only the cartridges that came with the printer, this could explain what you’re seeing. However, if you’ve installed replacement cartridges, the XL cartridges designed for your printer have estimated yields of 200 to 240 pages, while the regular size cartridges are expected to produce 100 to 120 pages. How cartridges perform in your own printer varies according to numerous factors, including resolution, how dry the air is and how absorbent the paper is. Regardless, if your results differ dramatically from the estimates above – or if the connectivity problem persists – I recommend that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call: - Model number - Serial number - Your location - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support) Keith HP Care hp.com/support

Hi, Sarah. I’m sorry that your printer has performed poorly. I can wholly understand why seeing blank or faintly rendered pages after the first successful one would be quite a shock, especially after a lengthy setup process. I want to help you resolve this situation. I hope the resources listed below serve that end. First, I recommend following the steps listed in a guide on our support site to improving print quality. Issues covered include color or black ink not printing properly – or at all. Find that guide here: support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_6189232-6189286-16 If the problem persists, I suggest you contact us directly so we can help you assess what’s happening and find the proper course of action. HP+ printers such as yours come with exclusive concierge support. To call and reach live HP+ experts, visit the following URL and enter your HP+ serial number: - hp.com/plus-help I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies – and that warranty extends to two years with an HP+ account – so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: - support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty Keith HP Care hp.com/support

Worst printer I've ever owned

1 out of 5 stars
Regretful Customer - 23 days ago
originally posted on hp.com
This is seriously the worst printer I've ever owned. I have been buying HP printers for years and have never been more frustrated. I have spent HOURS of my life trying to set this printer up. I bought this about a year and a half ago and it took 6 months to figure out how to get my computer to connect (was somehow able to print from my phone pretty easily). The real struggle began when I moved and had to get a new wi-fi provider. It took hours to figure out how to set up my printer with the new wi-fi, even using the online assistant. Then, a few weeks later (I don't use my printer too often), the printer is once again not setup with my wi-fi and have spent more hours trying to troubleshoot. I will never ever buy a printer without a touch screen ever again. Having to constantly print pieces of paper by pressing different combinations of buttons to figure out what's wrong with my printer is incredibly stupid. And all of this would be fixed had they designed this printer to have a USB option, but no, who wants to be able to simply print by plugging in a USB cord when you can instead spend HOURS trouble shooting wi-fi printing.

This is the worst printer I have ever owned. It does not stay "online." There is no option to turn off power saving mode. It goes to sleep after 15 mins of inactivity and the screen goes blank. Sometime thereafter, it somehow disconnects or turns off even though the power button and WiFi icon are lit. While in this state, it will NOT wake up. It does not respond to pressing any button, not even the power button. My computer and the SmartApp says its "off-line" or that the status is "unknown." The printer has to be unplugged and plugged back in. After it powers on, it prints pending jobs, either from my computer or jobs that were emailed to it. I have tried everything! Including the SmartApp diagnosis, the Print Doc software, HP trouble shooting, HP chat help (which is worthless because its automated and I cannot get a live person), searching the internet, moving the printer, resetting the router, setting a manual internet address. NOTHING WORKS! This is a hardware/software problem with the printer. A search of the internet shows that this is a common and well-known problem. I truly regret buying this printer on a whim. It should NOT be on the market.

Literally the worst printer ever. They make you enroll in an ink cartridge service even if you don’t need it. I cancelled mine because I was paying for ink that I wasn’t even using. When I went to use my printer it didn’t even tell me that think ink was low. There’s still ink in it but I can’t use it because I’m not enrolled in the service. Also the printer ONLY works on Wi-Fi. Worst buy ever. Save your money. Buy a better printer.

I must say that I was a little skeptical about purchasing an HP DeskJet 4100e series printer after reading many negative comments. However, I can tell you that I had no issues whatsoever in setting this new printer up on both my laptop and mobile using the HP Smart app. It took no time at all! Prints great from either device. This all-in-one will print, copy, scan and send mobile fax. I have also been using instant ink for a few years now and highly recommend it!

I have bought many printers during the past several decades - but this HP is definitely the worst!! The scanner would work sometimes and when I went to the troubleshooting computer (I could not get to a human) it said to delete the app and reinstall it. Now it won't let me print or scan because it says that I have "incompatible" ink cartridges. These are the cartridges that HP sent me since I had to sign up for their gimmick.
