A: Hello Juliet. You can use the Duo model for what's known as "water boil canning". However, please ensure that you do not pressure can in this model. Pressure canning requires a minimum 15psi, whereas the Duo model is only rated up to 12 psi. This means that it does not reach pressures for safe canning. We currently have the 6Qt Pro Plus model that is capable of pressure canning. For more information regarding this model please visit our website, or contact our Customer Care team.

The Duo Plus is 9-in-1 pressure cooker, rice cooker, slow cooker, yogurt maker, steamer, sauté pan, food warmer, sous vide and sterilizer. The Duo Plus has the lid with the Quick Release button. I didn’t like how the rubber ring inside the lid would smell like a the food that was cooked and there seemed to be nothing that would take the smell away. The speed of cooking the food was great, but the food often tastes a little bit different than it would if it were cooked with a regular method such as an oven or crockpot. It seemed harder to get the parts fully cleaned than regular pots or pans.

I found the design of this one to be nice as it has more of a compact design without loosing any cooking space. I also found it to be incredibly easy to clean. One of my favorite things to cook in it is rice, which there is a rice option button on it. All you have to do is push the button and you are good to go. I highly recommend this specific Instapot to anyone who is in the market for an upgrade or looking to purchase their first one!

I love that you can Saute, this makes the Instant Pot a true “one-pot” machine. With this function you can brown meat before pressure cooking it or thicken a sauce or soup after cooking. You can Pressure cook – This is the primary function of the Instant Pot. Get “slow-cooked tender” beef barbacoa in about an hour or fall-apart short ribs in 90 minutes. You can make rice which completely replaces a rice cooker. Just add the rice and let it cook with the push of a button. As that isn't enough, you can make soup – This function is nice because the Instant Pot automatically adjusts the pressure and temp so it doesn't over cook! So, I am really happy to have discovered this & will continue to make many more things thanks to this.

There are Smart Programs for pressure cooking already set up. You can cook fast or slow. There is an updated easy-release steam switch which allows for a simpler and faster steam release, and there are over 10 safety features. You can cook for up to 6, and in a jiffy! I'm still finding things I can do with this pot!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to give the Instant Pot a try, because I have a very small kitchen so anything that can do a lot without taking up much space is a plus. So far, I’ve mostly just made rice and soups and it does perfectly at both. I also heard about perfect “fall off the bone” baby back ribs by utilizing the pressure cooking feature, so I also gave that a try. I have to say, the pressure cooking of tough meats is a complete game changer. I have made on multiple occasions now the best ribs of my life as well as the best beef stew. Not only that, it does it in a fraction of the time. I let some friends know about my new way of tenderizing the meat and they didn’t believe me and popped back with saying “slow cooking is the only way” until they tried what I had cooked up. So this little cooker will definitely be a new kitchen friend to help many things become easier and faster. I didn’t have any trouble figuring out the controls so I’d say they are intuitive and straight forward and for anything requiring a little more detail then the manual helps out. As far as anything else and what you can cook, I found that a simple online search delivered countless ideas on how to make just about anything. Highly recommend!

My first pot has a different pressure release valve than this one which was a little hard getting used to. Also the other difference is that on this new one after you have selected your cook setting and then the time, you have to press "Start". There is not a start button on my first one, you select your settings and then it starts after a few beeps. I have several times not pressed the "start" button on this new one and have come back to check on it in about 10 minutes and it says "off", That has been really hard to get used to. The other major difference is that the power cord detaches from the instant pot. My old one is permanently attached. I'm not sure if I will like this new feature or not. But overall, the Instant Pot has changed my life. It is the best cooking appliance out there and I can just about cook anything in it that I can on the stove but much quicker and with less clean up. It is my BFF!

It tastes so much better than any other way that I've cooked it before. I love that it has the programs that make it easy to use. The saute function works great. You can cook so many different foods and in a shorter amount of time. I have an older model of the duo that love and use all of the time. I like most of the new updates. The only thing that I noticed is that the ring has been temperamental and has caused it to not come to pressure or "spit" out of the vavle that usually closes. I do think that I probably just got a defective ring as it doesn't do it when the ring is ok. I also love the color and new sleeker design. I recommend the Instant Pot duo to everyone.
