Description

Keep your above-ground pool water clean, fresh, and sparkling with the Intex 26679EG 16-inch Krystal Clear Saltwater System and Sand Filter Pump. The all-natural sand provides excellent water filtration as the 6-function control valve allows the pool owner to filter, backwash and rinse, recirculate, drain, and close the system. The built-in 24-hour timer adds to the hassle-free experience with maintaining a cleaner pool. The Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump generates a pump flow rate of 2,650 gallons per hour, ideal for above-ground pools. Equipped with the Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, which is an added safety feature that shuts off the pump if electrical current is exposed to water. This effective pump requires virtually no maintenance except the replacement of sand every 5 years. With the Saltwater System’s electrocatalytic oxidation process, water molecules are split into oxidants that help keep the water clean. The amount of Sodium Hypochlorite generated by the saltwater system is reduced by approximately 60%, much less than other saltwater systems generate. Enjoy the same process used at many resorts in your own pool with the 16-inch Intex Krystal Clear Sand Filter Pump and Saltwater System.

The box was left on the road where anyone could have swiped it. Would prefer it be left at our door next time. Otherwise it was delivered quick as promised

Saltwater generator

This is by far the best purchase I have made for the pool. Soft water no harsh chemicals. It operates like a dream. Would buy it again and again. The last smaller model I had for more than 10 years . Well built products.

Questionable longevity

The system itself is great. Just hope this pump last longer than the original that came with the pool. That one only lasted two seasons. (12 hrs. A day 5 months per year.) stored in heated garage in the off season. Bearing on the fan side locked up. Buddies same system is 4 years old still going strong, hopefully this one lasts longer than the original. I will say this sand/salt system is far superior to the cartridge filter systems I’ve had in the past. Longevity experience is the reason for three stars.

This is misleading. Pictures show the incorrect tubes. The system uses the smaller tubes that needs to be clamped on. I just had to set up a return.

"LOW SALT" ALERT COMING ON IN ERROR

The "low salt" alert keeps coming on even though the salt is at the recommended level of 3500ppm. And when this happens it stops making chlorine, so now I have to buy chlorine and add it by hand. MAYBE they will reach out to me with a solution?
1 reply from Intex Consumer Service team - 1 month ago

Garbage

It died after 3 years just before the winter. To replace the motor it's almost as expensive as buying a new combo. As usual with Intex quality is very poor.

Easy to install

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Durable, easy to use in our pool. No maintenance needed usually, and a great option for portable pools. Installed simple plugging in, effectively maintaining the water in the pool.

Disfunctional and unable to return!

Disfunctional and unable to return! I was a couple days past the 30 day return policy (I thought it was 90 days) and they would not let me have any exception to return. The product is completely disfunctional so I am extremely disappointed that I cannot have my money back or exchange. I call support and they said I should rebuy and return the disfunctional one in the new box as a "workaround". Seems odd that Target support suggested that.

I ❤️ our system, but watch for Low Salt Warnings

The Saltwater system is really nice to have, i have used Intex saltwater systems for years because i liked this option instead of using chemicals in my pool. The units work well except for the low salt warnings that you get over time. I am actually on my 3rd unit over the past 5 or 6 years (and just ordered another one as a backup in the event the one I have been using this year has the 'Low Salt Issue' occur again. Even cleaning the cells per the online instructions from Intex does not fix the issue. I know it actually is NOT a low salt situation because the water has been professionally tested and the pool water tests 'good' for the amount of salt in the pool AND putting a brand new electrode in the Saltwater system ended up working fine.
1 reply from Intex Consumer Service team - 10 months ago
Thank you for your honest feedback and for being a loyal user of our saltwater systems. We understand how frustrating those low salt warnings can be, especially when you’ve already tested the water and followed the cleaning steps. Your experience helps us better understand where improvements are needed. Please know we’re here to support you anytime—don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.

Do Not Buy!

If I could give negative stars I would. These last about 1 season, I’d that. And then either the control panel goes bed, you get the dreaded code 91 Low Salt. And INTEX claims it has a 1 year warranty. Hmm, wonder why.

I used to own this product the salt water system only lasted for four months and I replaced it with a Hayward sand filter system, and that works 10 times better than the Intex

I bought the salt water system a year ago had no issues with it. It keeps the pool crystal clear. I mean I just press the button and I set a timer and it will automatically turn on and turn off one of the best products I ever bought.

2 years and it's failing?

Got 2 years use and now the pump shuts off and resets every 10 seconds. Of course this happens a couple months after my warranty is up. What a rip off. I kept it stored in my climate controlled garage during winter. Never really over used it with free pump mode or boost mode. And still just get 2 years. Some terrible manufacturing just to rip off customers and get more money.

Pressure and intake terrible.

The intake on this is terrible. Nothing ever goes into the filter basket. Am I able to plug the middle intake valve? And just run it filter basket and then output? If I close off the middle intake, then it works perfectly. If I do this, am I going to ruin the pump? It just doesn’t make any sense.
