About this item

Newton had an interest in the Temple of Solomon that lasted more than 50 years, says Morrison, and wrote an unpublished manuscript A Treatise or Remarks on Solomon's Temple, Introduction to the Lexicon of the Prophets, Part Two: About the Appearance of the Jewish Temple, probably from the middle 1680s to the early 1690s. He drew mostly from the Book of Ezekiel but also other biblical passages in Greek, Hebrew, Vulgate Latin, and Arabic. She discusses his manuscripts, the history of models up to the 18th century, paper reconstructions of the Temple of Solomon from the 17th and 18th centuries, architectural models exhibited in London during the 17th and 18th centuries, the model guidebooks, and the architectural model of Newton's Temple of Solomon.
