If you're tired of eating out on the patio and having to talk around the umbrella pole, the Santiago Cantilever Umbrella from Island Umbrella has the solution. Place this octagonal umbrella beside your table for shade, and use the auto-tilt feature as the sun travels. With great neutral-colored options, pair this umbrella stand with bright patio furniture to make a bold statement.
Fade-resistant treatment keeps fabric looking like new.
I give it three stars because I don’t see it lasting more than a year or two. Some cheap plastic parts that they could have made either with a better quality or metal. You can see the stress marks in the plastic and we have had it up twice, it wasn’t windy at all either. We had a different one that was $300 before. It was a bigger diameter pole but the same cheap plastic parts. It lasted two years, doesn’t give me too much confidence in this one.
Super heavy and the base it comes with doesn't even support it. It's super frustrating! I bought the granite base and even though it says "fits most" it doesn't fit this. I'm so frustrated that I have to lug this thing back to the store!!!
After a year, umbrella no longer works. It tilts to the side and the metal base is starting to bend and break. It is now a safety hazard. Spend a little more money and get something that will last longer.
Bottom line--skip this one. Pay more for something that will work properly and last. Remember, weights are extra and over $100.

Just bought this umbrella. It looked sturdy while unpackaging. The umbrella shade itself was made of a surprisingly light fabric, but seems durable. Has a nice tie with velcro closure to keep the umbrella shade closed. The directions for assembly and use were a little murkey, but figured it out without too much trouble. The umbrella "controls", if you will, are all plastic. They seem wimpy and will surely be the weakest link with use. During use this week (about 3 times of up and down), I noticed that the umbrella unit easily gets stuck on itself and won't move until the weight of the umbrella is taken off by holding the portion with the crank. The sleeve that covers the joint between the umbrella extension rod and the arm is a pain and you have to hold it up with one hand while moving with the other. Also I have noticed that even after locking the unit in place while the umbrella is tilted, the coupling will slip up the rod and move back into original position. Again, this is after less than a week's use. Overall very disappointed in the umbrella. It was about half the price of other umbrellas out there, but it didn't come with the weights. After pricing the weights, I note that I could have purchased a much better quality and heavier-duty unit from a competitor for the same price as this cheap umbrella and the cost of purchasing the weights separately. Bottom line--I'd like to return the unit. It is light-duty and already failing to hold in place. No cover is included with the umbrella either, so that will be an additional charge.
