This is a really cool robot and I can't wait to give it to my kids for Christmas. It's really versatile and can connect with an app. Fantastic project for a tech or science minded kid.

My 11 year old does not find as much joy in STEM related activities as I do. This programmable robot is a great way to show him how it can translate into real world application in a fun way. He struggled a bit through assembly and coding at first, but the directions in the app were clear and helpful enough that he didn’t give up. There’s many neat features, including an infrared sensor! I would say it would have been too involved for my 7 year old, but she likes watching and learning her brother play with it. This robot is designated for ages 8+. Overall, very happy with it!

This is the neatest thing! My son sat for a few days & put it together & now has been having fun playing with it around the house. He is 14 so he didn’t need any help, a younger kid would probably need help but it would be really fun to do together!

Received this product to review and I immediately gave it to my 10-year old son. He is a LEGO fanatic and can build most anything. Overall, very easy to put together. You do have to download the app to get the instructions, but it shows everything in 3D which makes it easy to know if you're on the right track. He loved the light up colors and being able to control it via the app. It does have to charge before you can play with it, so make sure to do that first. Even though it can be different things, we decided on the robot version, which is a lot of fun! A little bit on the pricey side, but overall, a fun toy that kept him occupied.

The Jimu Astrobot Cosmos Kit is really neat. First you need to download the Jimu App which is free (iOS & Android). There are so many parts that come with the robot kit, so to avoid confusion, there are step by step directions in the app. These directions are really great. They allow for the builder to see each piece (and the model) in a 3D view and from all angles. The directions also highlight when particular electronic parts need to be used, so the functionality is correct later on when programming. Once my son (age 9) and I finished building Astron (the walking robot), we were immediately impressed. My son made most of the robot. It was pretty easy when the instructions are followed. Once complete, the app allows you to make the robot walk, dance (lift legs and rotate on standing leg), move forward, backward, and side to side, change colors in the eyes, sense objects in it’s path, and make sounds. You can use your device as a remote or you can program a series of commands and save them. The app also has a fun tutorial so your child can see what the commands do and can get a sense of how to use it. It's really great. Soon we will be taking Astron apart so we can build the other two models. I highly recommend this toy. It’s a great STEM toy and great for logical thinking and for following step by step directions. It's also a lot of fun when you see what it can do.

Impressive kit that’s easy to follow

This robot kit is very impressive! It far exceeded any expectations that I initially had. First off, what kid...uh-hem or adult...doesn't want their very own robot? And now my child and I can use our brain power and build one of our own. That’s so amazing! The kit itself is smaller than you may think but don’t let that fool you. Its packed with hours of fun. The robot parts are easy to identify and the instructions are just right. (Easy for a smart young child or middle schooler to follow.) You will need to download the Jimu app (super easy to find). Then follow the instructions. It’s that simple. The app itself contains clear step by step instructions that ultimately guide the user as they build robots, create robot controls, and enter their robot coding. It also contains a robot community and some further learning opportunities. Overall, this is a great toy...especially for tech savvy young children!

Great gift for kids who are into robots and coding. My daughter is 9 and is very into the coding robots. We love that you can turn this into 3 different robots. Even though she is 9 and takes robotics at school, she still needed a little bit of help with this. I would say that this is definitely more for kids 10-12. It comes with no paper directions, FYI. It's all done through an app, also an FYI. You have to be willing to let your child use your phone or iPad. Overall, it seems like a good option with lots of possibilities. As we play with it more I will add more.

I like this UBTECH JIMU Robot AstroBot Series Cosmos Kit which three Robots options to choose from i.e. AstroBot, Rover or Astron or any customized one as well. JIMU app is needed for this assembly and coding. My kids found the instructions easy to follow with some guidance. It kept them busy for some time and was an effective way to utilize the time and also build some coding concepts. Another good feature is to create customized actions using PRP (pose, record & play) function and new functions can be created as well. It comes with all the components required like blue tooth speaker, sensor, lights etc. and no additional tools are required for assembly. It is more than a toy and introduce the kids to the coding and programming concepts at an early stage which might get helpful while growing up. My kids are fallen in love with this cute and full of fun and interactive robot. Highly recommend.
