The Kamenstein Perfect-Tear Paper Towel Holder is made of durable stainless steel to add function and elegance to your kitchen countertop or dining table. This freestanding paper tower holder has a broad base that holds an entire roll. The whisk-like column design keeps the paper roll from unrolling. Its small bar lets you easily tear off the paper towels from the holder. Switching paper rolls will be a piece of cake!
I bought this a few months ago and am now replacing it. It's impossible to tear off paper towels without the base sliding all over the counter and dispensing some random number of paper towels, all while making an obnoxious grating sound. The finish also shows every drop of water. Definitely would not buy again.
This was shipped scratched and appeared heavily used. I can understand minor scratches, but it literally looked over a year old. This goes without mentioning that the bar to strip the paper towel is far too short to be effective.

Good quality and design for an on-the-counter holder.
The weight means I'm unlikely to accidentally knock it over. It was a bit difficult to coax the paper towel roll on to the holder, but I believe that's by design as it is mean for the holder to rotate, not the roll. The weight isn't quite strong enough to offset the intended resistance, so I still need two hands to pull off a towel sometimes, but overall, I'm happy with it.
Ratchet makes it possible to tear off a towel without dragging the holder around.
People don’t seem to realize you just have to grasp the towel at the top and snap it downward- you don’t even need the bar and ratchet.
This makes it easier for people who don’t know how to tear off a piece of paper.
I'm not sure how I feel about this holder. I've usually had the under the cabinet paper towel holders in the past but can't have that in my new kitchen. First, what I like about it. It's sturdy. It does not slip all over the place. The rubber on the bottom allows it to stand firmly when trying to get a sheet. It matches all my other stainless stuff. What I don't like is how difficult it makes tearing off a single sheet. Maybe it will loosen up as time goes by?
