Q: Can I use a thermal carafe with this?
A: Hi Susan, you can only use the glass carafe that comes with the K-Duo coffee maker. Thanks for your question!
submitted byKeurig Care - 4 years agoBrand expertA: Is this still the case? I really dislike the one that came with it. It sills everywhere when you pour with it!
submitted byAnother Susan - 4 years agoA: Sadly the carafe that comes with can't pour without spilling... Worse pour spout on a coffee pot I have ever had... Love everything about this Duo but the spills EVERY fill up!!! We have tried everything, had our guests try we can't pour a coupl of coffee without a mess...PLZ fix it as when this one dies I will get a different one just because of the carafe... we have been using ours for about a year...
submitted byJW - 2 years agoA: We had the same problem but found if you open the lid a bit with your thumb before you start pouring it does not spill or make a mess.

Q: Does the carafe side have an auto shut-off?
A: Yes, once you have completed a carafe brew the heating plate will automatically turn on and remain on for 2 hours before turning off. Thanks for your question!
submitted byKeurig Care - 4 years agoBrand expertA: The CARAFE side shuts off after TWO HOURS.
submitted byBlondie - 4 years agoA: I have one. After brewing, the carafe will stay on for a couple hours unless you push and hold the brew button to turn it off.
submitted byZZ - 3 years agoA: I read it does shut off after 5 minutes.

Q: If the water reservoir holds 60 ounces how do you make 12 cups? Do you have to add water mid way through the brew?
A: A "cup" of coffee is generally considered to be 6 ounces water and one tablespoon of grounds. But for 12 cups, that would mean 72 ounces. Maybe they're considering a "cup" to be 5 ounces, which would use 60 ounces of water to make 12 "cups".
submitted byHmmm - 4 years agoA: Thanks for your question! One cup is equal to 5 ounces of coffee. This is a standard measurement in drip coffee makers. We hope this is helpful!
submitted byKeurig Care - 4 years agoBrand expertA: well, in my world, and you can measure it in a 1 cup measuring cup, it is 8 oz.

Q: How do you clean this unit and how often?
A: Descaling regularly removes mineral build up that can affect taste and quality, ensuring your coffee maker brews a perfect cup, every time. Depending on the mineral content of your water, calcium deposits or scale may build up in your brewer. Scale is non-toxic but if left unattended can hinder brewer performance. Regularly descaling your brewer every 3 months helps maintain the heating element, and other internal parts that come in contact with water.
submitted byKeurig Care - 2 years agoBrand expertA: I find using filtered water in the machine elemenates descaling for a couple of years.
