Q: Does it also from showing the temperature in F to C?

submitted by Sharon - 5 years ago
  • A: On the application that you get you can change it to show the temperature in Fahrenheit (f) or Celsius (c)

submitted byRoberta Brake - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes. You can change it from F to C by pressing the ON/OFF button on the thermometer twice while the thermometer is turned on. You can also change it in the app. Click on the “Menu” icon and select the “Settings” icon. An icon will be displayed to indicate which mode the thermometer is in. Touch the icon to switch modes.

submitted byMommy - 4 years ago

Q: So the picture above shows that 98.6 is a moderate fever. Is the thermometer wrong with its numbers? I thought 98.6 was the ideal temperature.

submitted by rvalade3 - 3 years ago
  • A: The average normal body temperature is generally accepted as 98.6°F (37°C). Some studies have shown that the "normal" body temperature can have a wide range, from 97°F (36.1°C) to 99°F (37.2°C). A temperature over 100.4°F (38°C) most often means you have a fever caused by an infection or illness.

submitted byMommy - 3 years ago

Q: Is this compatible with iPhone for the App feature?

submitted by cmoore218 - 4 years ago
  • A: Yes - the app is compatible with both iPhones and Androids.

submitted byMommy - 3 years ago

Q: Does this need lens filters to use like the Braun Thermoscan?

submitted by mamaof3 - 4 years ago
  • A: It does not need lens filters.

submitted byMommy - 3 years ago

Q: How easy is this to use on yourself? Can you just place it in your ear anyway or does it have to be orientated in a specific direction that could be hard to do when using it on yourself?

submitted by Robert Kant - 4 years ago
  • A: You need to place it properly but I find it easy to do on myself

This is the worst thermometer ever! Have to have the app open on my phone to read a temperature…there is a way to do it without the app, but I can’t ever remember how to do it when it’s time to read a temperature…then recently when I do open the app & take a temperature, it just flashes “L”. So it doesn’t even appear to work now. Have only had it for 6 months!

Hello - We're so sorry about the "L" reading on your thermometer. This means the temperature reading is too low but it is usually due to something interfering with the sensor. We would love to help resolve this issue for you! Horribly inaccurate. My son had a 103 fever and this thing never says anything besides 94 or 95. I can do three readings on myself, ear and forehead, and it will never get the same number twice and never gets anything above 95. It’s a horrible waste of money.

It doesn’t work. My other thermometers were reading 103.5 degrees on my 6 year old while this one read no fever. I came down with the same thing the next day and tried it on myself thinking maybe it would work better on adults…same thing. It read no fever while my other 2 thermometers read 3-4 degrees higher and I knew I had a fever by the way I felt. The app is also unnecessarily complicated especially for something that doesn’t work once you go to all the trouble of setting it up.

This does not work. Inaccurate results each time. I am glad I had another thermometer on hand as this one said my child did NOT have a fever (multiple times, both ears). I used a different thermometer which did show a raised temperature in my child. Tested on myself which also resulted in inaccurate readings. Save your money.

Batteries included didn’t work and kept throwing and ERR message with them. Switched to new ones I had and no matter who I took the temperature on in my household it said it was too low for a reading. My husband has a fever as he has covid right now and still wouldn’t show. I put the cap on it and pushed the button and it said the temp was to high for a reading. Returning ASAP!

Literally emailing back and forth for 1 week with Kinsa and even had to record video of my crying baby showing how this did not detect a 100.2 low grade FEVER in my 10 month old and this is what Diego says: we cannot, under any circumstances, issue refunds for buyer’s remorse, or because the product was not what you expected. Lol. I guess assuming it to work is unreasonable. HUGE WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. Thanks for nothing Kinsa customer service!

I never leave reviews, however as a mom with two sick kiddos at the moment the last thing I needed was an inaccurate thermometer. This was soo far off from their actual temps it was outrageous, you’d be better off guessing a random temp yourself based on feel and mothers intuition. As soon as they’re feeling better and we can leave the house- this is getting brought back. Save your time and money and skip this piece of junk!

I will be returning this. I loved the idea, speed, and ease of use. Love that you can keep track of past temps in the app and assign them to a person. The concept is great. The actual thermometer, however, is GARBAGE. Have not gotten one accurate reading. I read a lot of reviews saying the same thing, but I thought maybe it was operator error. Nope. I’m a nurse and mom of 3. I know how to take a temp. I know when my child hasn’t eaten or drank anything in the last hour and I take a temp while their core feels burning up that a temp of 97.6 is not it. Tried multiple times over last several days as we are all sick, but this thermometer is useless. I’ll stick to my Braun tympanic.
