Q: pls confirm DPCI # 072-04-2420 KitchenAid Professional 5 plus stand mixer, is this mixer has 450 W motor or 525W motor, discrepancy on item detail description.

submitted by tina20215 - 8 years ago
  • A: I just got of the phone with Kitchen aid and they confirmed 450 watts for this discontinued model. I am still waiting for my order to see what it says on the box and I will call them again.

submitted byNaa - 8 years ago
  • A: I just received my box and yes it’s 525 watts. Perfect much better than 450 watts, love it.

submitted byCristi - 7 years ago
  • A: Bought it 3 weeks ago from Target. Item number 53676245. Online description is wrong. Its a 525 watt motor. I think it's a description for the older model.

submitted byEileen - 5 years ago
  • A: I was doubtful, but it DOES have a 525 Watt motor. I even asked Kitchenaid before ordering and they said it would be a 450 Watt. However, once the package arrived the box read 525 Watts and the tags on the unit itself say Max Watts: 525 Watts. It appears that this model at one time had the 450, but has since been upgraded for the 525 Watt. For whatever reason the kitchenaid support did not get the updated documentation so they may mislead you into thinking it is 450 watts. This is a huge power increase and it is noticeable. Having said all of this.. This is a really good deal at this time. For half the cost of a Pro 600 you get a motor that is nearly as powerful. The pro 600 is only stronger by 50 watts (575 watts total). You would barely notice a difference in this case. This model should be able to handle anything the pro 600 can. The only real advantage to the pro 600 is the bigger bowl by 1 quart. Go with this one over the Pro 600. The $200 saving far outweighs the 6 quart bowl over the 5 quart. I hope this finally clears up the question on the watts.

submitted byJake - 8 years ago
  • A: Ours is 525w motor.  Plenty of power

submitted byGeez - 8 years ago
  • A: Hi Tina20215. This model is now 525 watts.

  • A: All the current models are 525w. Only the older, original ones were 450w.

submitted bypinupgirl - 8 years ago

Q: Are these colors all a brushed finish? I bought the silver and it isn't a smooth shiny finish as the picture depicts. I was going to exchange or the red, but if it is a brushed finish I will not.

Q: Does this mixer have a warranty?

submitted by Bettye - 7 years ago
  • A: Yes, a manufacturers warranty is provided on all their products. I have had my KitchenAid stand mixer for about 20 years and haven't experienced any problems. I've made wedding, shower and of course birthday cakes for all my family, that includes my grand children and friends.

    Movable head

He loves that it makes quick work. I own two KitchenAid mixers, myself. A 5 quart lift head and a 6 quart bowl lift. They are fantastic.

    More room, more power

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) I got this as a 27 year wedding gift. I have had a Classic in Black since we were married and I loved it but always wanted a colourful mixer in the kitchen. This one is a beauty. I love having more room for adding ingredients as it mixes and the larger capacity bowl- I can now make bread without the dough getting pushed up above the hook and into the mechanics of the machine! My one critique - it still sprays flour everywhere when mixing starts just like my older model so I would love to see some type of bowl shield be a standard accessory that comes with the machine.

    Poor quality

I bought this product one year ago and have used it sparingly. One of the beaters are already peeling and I have pieces in my food. I called and they said it is a wear item and will have to be replaced. While I agree with this, they shouldn’t be peeling within one year when there are very old kitchen aid mixers with zero issues. There customer service was poor to deal with, I had to wait 40 minutes just to talk to someone. Would not recommend if this is how they stand behind there products.

I have tried 5 different scrapers to try to mix dough and not have to stop and scrap the bottom with a spatula. The motor works great once I get everything mixed in. I would assume this is an issue you can resolve and redesign. These are very expensive mixers to have some attachment not work the way it was designed to scrape the bottom of the bowl.
