Q: pls confirm DPCI # 072-04-2420 KitchenAid Professional 5 plus stand mixer, is this mixer has 450 W motor or 525W motor, discrepancy on item detail description.

submitted by tina20215 - 6 years ago
  • A: I was doubtful, but it DOES have a 525 Watt motor. I even asked Kitchenaid before ordering and they said it would be a 450 Watt. However, once the package arrived the box read 525 Watts and the tags on the unit itself say Max Watts: 525 Watts. It appears that this model at one time had the 450, but has since been upgraded for the 525 Watt. For whatever reason the kitchenaid support did not get the updated documentation so they may mislead you into thinking it is 450 watts. This is a huge power increase and it is noticeable. Having said all of this.. This is a really good deal at this time. For half the cost of a Pro 600 you get a motor that is nearly as powerful. The pro 600 is only stronger by 50 watts (575 watts total). You would barely notice a difference in this case. This model should be able to handle anything the pro 600 can. The only real advantage to the pro 600 is the bigger bowl by 1 quart. Go with this one over the Pro 600. The $200 saving far outweighs the 6 quart bowl over the 5 quart. I hope this finally clears up the question on the watts.

submitted byJake - 6 years ago
  • A: Ours is 525w motor. Plenty of power

submitted byGeez - 6 years ago
  • A: I just received my box and yes it’s 525 watts. Perfect much better than 450 watts, love it.

submitted byCristi - 5 years ago
  • A: All the current models are 525w. Only the older, original ones were 450w.

submitted byAlan - 6 years ago
  • A: I just got of the phone with Kitchen aid and they confirmed 450 watts for this discontinued model. I am still waiting for my order to see what it says on the box and I will call them again.

Terrible mixer

I’ve waited for 30 years to get a Kitchenaid mixer and couldn’t wait until it arrived. I was disappointed as soon as I opened the box because it was so heavy it is hard for me to move and it is too high to fit under my cupboards. I got a cart with wheels to keep it on so I could roll it over when I want to use it. When I found out it was stationary and didn’t go up to take out the bowl or beaters I couldn’t believe it. If I had bought in a store I would have returned but thought it might be okay when I got used to it. I have had nine months but still hate it. The best part is the grinding attachment. Seriously thinking of bringing back my 45 year old Sunbeam because I can actually use it.

I've had this mixer about a year. The beater has the coating rubbing off. I've attempted the adjustment shown for this problem but it hasn't seemed to help. I would like to find a replacement beater but so far have not had success for this model (KV25G0XIC).

I purchased my Professional 5 Plus Series Stand mixer for myself for Christmas while it was on sale at less than 1/2 price. I made myself a promise to not use it until Christmas so I can't very well give less than a 5 star review because I honestly haven't used it yet. I am very impressed with the weight, I don't expect it to try to walk off the counter while kneading bread or dough of any kind. I did get the extra bowl and whisk with the spatula. I will review again after Christmas, 2022.

I owned a K5SS for 22 years, it started giving me problems, so I decided to order the 5 plus stand mixer, I received it yesterday via UPS, I unpacked it carefully, set it up and turned it on, it made a terrible grinding noise, I understand its new but for it to make a grinding noise it's not normal, I would like to return or exchange it.

Bowl removal is awful!

My first KitchenAid, no no no. I was so excited, took months to decide, now I need to figure out if I can still return it. In order to take the bowl off- you have to remove the whisk/hook/attachment. What!? I run a small business so need to do multiple batches and check a lot to see how things pour/scoop. The spring attachment turning thing gets fooled up and I’m using all of my strength to get the attachment on or off. It’s nuts! I’m making a couple of batches of something daily. This Pro motor seemed perfect. It isn’t. It also can’t reach the sides or the bottom of the bowl (yes I use the lever to bring it up and down.) I’m not sure what to do. It’s now “used.” I thought the never would be easier than tilting the head up over and over. Oh man was I wrong.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m an avid baker and home chef and have been meaning to pick one up for many years. This is a tool that will enable you to do so many things, and it’ll look great on your counter! My favorite thing is the ease of which I can make dough and cookies. Want to try making bread but are intimidated? Get a KitchenAid mixer! Also if your kitchen can fit it, opt for the lift bowl version. It’s easier to work with and the bigger size bowl is better for large batches. Can’t wait to grab more attachments to enable me to do more things with it!

It’s so much quieter than my hand mixer which, by the way, is not a Kitchenaid. I’ve made cakes, cookies, and breads and it’s perfect. If you’re on the fence I suggest you take the plunge & get one. You won’t regret it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have recently moved to the USA from South Africa. I couldn’t bring any of my appliance with as the voltage is different. I was not a happy camper having to leave my kitchen appliances. Settled in for a couple of months and got myself the Kitchenaid Professional 5. Was like a school kid when the box arrived. Baking is my ultimate joy, my creative outlet, after a hard week of work behind a PC. Got a couple of attachments. Going to make South African sausage called Boerewors - first time ever I will be processing meat, let alone making sausage. This Kitchen aid is really making home in the US feel like home now. Here’s to many more South African and US cooking and baking experiences with my Kitchenaid.
