About this item

Highlights

  • For all curly hair types
  • Frizz controlling
  • Humidity combating
  • Moisture reviving
  • Low-sudsing co-wash

Description

This cleansing co-wash is so amazing for curly girls, frizzy hair, humidity control and damage - basically anyone lacking natural moisture.

Cleansing conditioners are a great way to keep your natural oils intact while rinsing away the excess.

How to:
1. Divide your hair into four sections - two in the front and two in the back.
2. Apply a nickel-sized amount of cleanser to wet hair at the root of each section.
3. Gently work into hair, focusing on the root area, for one minute per section.
4. Rinse hair thoroughly. The middle and ends will get as much cleansing and conditioning as they need as the product rinses through.
Tip: It takes a second to get used to low-sudsing cleansers, but it's worth the transition!

Contains Zip-Up Technology™, our proprietary strengthening complex designed to "zip-up" split ends while targeting weak areas of the hair, smoothing the appearance of damaged cuticles and helping to protect hair from environmental stressors and color fade.

cruelty free | color + keratin safe
free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates + drying alcohols

Q: Do you use a conditioner with this?

submitted by sherry - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Cleansing Co-wash is meant for adding major moisture back into the hair. If you feel you need the extra moisture after using, you can follow with a conditioner. This creamy formula will give you an extra wash at the roots for any build up while adding moisture back into the hair. This is a one-step so rub this into your roots all over and it will rinse ends the clean on the way out. A conditioner is only necessary if you need more moisture!

Q: Should this be used in lieu of The One conditioner or with it, every few washes?

submitted by figfan3 - 7 years ago
  • A: I was reading some comments on Kristin's instagram (seriously such a great resource for tips) and she recommended using this in lieu of conditioner + shampoo every few washes :)

This shampoo is excellent. I have fine, naturally curly hair that gets too dry with regular shampoo. This product is the perfect way to freshen my hair. I like a “mixed chicks” brand as well, but they stopped carrying it at Target. I do like Kristen ess scent as well. Thank you for carrying this product.

I have not purchased much of this brand. However I will be buying this full set when I am done with my currant. I bought this due to the smell and what the bottle said. It actually works very well. My hair is super bouncy and hydrated.

I love this product! It is so moisturizing. My hair has never been so soft! You put it on your scalp in sections and as you wash it out, it conditions the ends of your hair perfectly. Great product!

This cleanses gently but throughly! Easily spreads and quick to go through the hair. Easy rinsing. Leaves hair smooth and manageable. Fairly strong fragrance though is the only caveat. Otherwise this is amazing b

Tried this co wash and quickly realized I was losing SO MUCH HAIR. Like clog my shower drain after every shower kind of bad. I’ve never had any issue with hair products besides frizz, I have very thin hair so it’s noticeable how much hair I’ve lost in just 1 month of using this product. Just use Monday if you’re looking for a nice hair product at target!

I bought this co-wash to use as a conditioner. I have very straight, thick hair, and I like a weightier conditioner to make my hair lay more smoothly/combat frizz. I love using this as a conditioner because you can also massage into the scalp a bit for dry scalp conditioning. I find that using a regimen of traditional/and or low sulfate shampoo with a co-wash conditioner keeps my hair balanced. I bought this product to replace Hairstory New Wash, which is too expensive to buy regularly. The smell is exactly like other Kristeness products, which I do like. I cannot speak to its actual cleansing abilities as I don’t use it as a shampoo replacement.

I can see how if not properly applied, people are winding up with residue. However, I had no issues. I even like the scent that a lot of people are complaining about! I used a rubber scalp brush to massage the product into my roots, let sit for about 5 minutes or so while I showered, and rinsed thoroughly. My hair is colored and permed, and it left my curls moisturized and defined without weighing them down, or stripping the color out of my hair. I’m happy with it, especially for the price.

Five Stars for Husband

I bought this for my hair that looks frizzy, but also looks greasy quickly. It did not work for me, as my hair did not feel as clean as a I like (felt greasy to me). HOWEVER, my husband loves it and took it from me. It makes his hair have volume and look smooth. His hair is a bit thicker than mine. My hair is thinner and color-treated. So, depending on your hair, this might be amazing for you!

I am currently OBSESSED with this co-wash! I have short, mature, color-treated hair and I find most shampoo strips my natural oils and most conditioners leave my hair either dry and frizzy or limp. This product kills two birds with one stone - not only streamlining my morning routine, but cleans and conditions my hair JUST RIGHT :) Kristin Ess Frizz Management Cleansing Co Wash 845 Fl Oz

Lots of buildup

Makes my hair feel really nice, but I noticed buildup or dandruff within the first week of use that did not go away. I have used other co-washes that did not have this result, so I know it’s not from not using suds.

I bought this because I wanted to try a less stripping alternative to shampoo (I have dry ends because of my balayage) and this product was so heavy and made my scalp soo greasy in just a matter of hours! I can usually go a day or two without washing my hair, so I knew it had to be this product. The product did smell really good, however.

All Fragrance, No Substance

3 out of 5 stars
Sad mop owner - 2 years ago, Verified purchaser
This is not the most effective co-wash I’ve tried. Firstly, the instructions ask you to divide your hair into several sections and spend a minute scrubbing each one. Who has the time—or the arm lactic acid resistance—for that? Secondly, while it smelled lovely, it didn’t get my hair as clean as other co-washes I’ve used. Perhaps because of my lack of aforementioned time. If you are in a situation in which you need to wash your hair every day, this could work for you. But, when I’m hoping to only wash it once every few days, this does not keep my hair clean enough between washes.

I’ve recently started caring more about my hair health. I have oil roots and dry ends. I have type 3A hair and suffer from dry ends, and terrible breakage. Co washing is new to me and this is the first co wash I’m using. I’m so glad I tried this, my hair feels so soft, roots feel so clean, it will take some getting used to replacing this with shampoo but my hairs is on major need of moisture. I’m using this in between washing with shampoo. Also ordered a scalp scrub to help really cleanse roots. Used the directions on the package. And not washing ends, roots only.

Makes my hair soooo healthy feeling. Helped with the frizziness and totally transformed my hair. It’s a it weird to get started using but the adjustment is so worth it! Works as a conditioner alone too if you want to use an actual shampoo with it.

I used this for the first time today and so far so good! My hair feels really clean. I followed the directions and put it directly onto my scalp (not onto the mid-ends of my hair) and it worked perfectly. I followed with my favorite leave in conditioner and my hair feels really clean. Not sure why people complain about the scent—my leave in conditioner has a more pleasant scent, and when I sprayed it in my hair I couldn’t even smell the cowash scent anymore; it’s really not that bad. Definitely will repurchase when I run out!

I have never tried a cowash. I don’t think I wish ever go back to regular shampoo. My hair was dry, brittle, and thin. My hair loves this and no longer feels dry like hay. I highly recommend this to anyone who can’t use regular shampoo with dry and brittle hair.
