Description
I'm always looking for ways to play with pastel tones in the hair. This is the first ever in-shower watercolor that creates a temporary tone when sprayed on wet hair and then rinsed out. The intensity is up to you. When you spray it on damp, towel-dried hair it will soak up more color and last longer. If you spray it on wet hair it will give you a more subtle tone and will rinse out faster. The pink tone is most visible on pre-lightened/highlighted or blonde hair and washes out in 1-3 shampoos depending on the porosity of your hair.

How to:
1. Shampoo your hair and rinse.
2. Apply spray in the shower on wet hair. For a more intense pink color, towel dry the hair before you spray. For a more subtle hint of pink, spray it directly on freshly rinsed hair. (The less water there is on the hair, the more tone the hair will soak up. Think of your hair as a sponge! If it's full of water it can only absorb a little color.)
3. Once you feel you've covered the hair you want to color, wait 1-2 minutes and then rinse.
4. Follow it up with your favorite conditioner or mask.
Tip: Do a small test piece in the sink and then blow dry it. You'll know how much color your hair will soak up and how quickly it will rinse out.

Q: Will this work on brown hair?

A: No. Only medium to light blonde hair, it's better if the hair has been highlighted or bleached so it is more porous and soaks up the product better.
submitted byTanya - 6 years agoA: If you have highlights it will work on the highlights. I have dark brown hair with highlights and it works on the highlights. Also, the more water you get out of your hair (i.e., towel dry) the more it will show up.

Q: What if you were to spray this into your shampoo and apply it that way? Would that work?

A: I don’t think so, part of the process requires you to wait 1-2 mins to soak in then rinse. Maybe if you waited, but even with spraying I left like I needed to spray a lot directly on my hair. If you mixed it I imagine it would turn out very light.

A: Hello! Our Rose Gold Temporary Tint is a temporary tone that is most visible on pre-lightened/highlighted or blonde hair and washes out in 1-3 shampoos depending on the porosity of your hair. We do suggest performing a patch test in the sink and then blow dry it. You’ll know how much color your hair will soak up and how quickly it will rinse out. We hope this helps!

A: Thanks for your question! The Rose Gold Temporary Tint woks on all pre-lightened or blonde hair types. There are two ways to apply the product to make the color less or more intense. If applied to dry hair and then rinsed out, it will give your hair more of an intense pink. If applied to wet hair and then rinsed out, it will give your hair more of a pale pink.

Aerosol can application is genius. It sprays evenly, smells very clean & you can control the color intensity. Spray lightly for light rose or heavy handed for a deep dusty rose color. I have included a strand sample picture on my ‘dirty blonde” hair extensions, this was a heavy handed spray and sit to dry.

Have applied this on wet hair initially, and now apply for 30min on dry hair to lengthen the effect. The colour is fun and the pigment depth mimics your natural highlights. Love it! Lots of compliments.

I liked that was easy to spray on- I wish it didn’t take so many times- I had to apply three times- rewetting my hair- it says u have to apply after shampooing it- Also, I tried it on my dry hair to see if the color would take- I did that my last take and left it on for 5 minutes in the shower. (A YouTube video I watched- the lady left it on her hair for 15 minutes). I have shoulder length hair and I felt like I used up one bottle since I had to apply three takes. If you have long hair- plan on buying two bottles to fully saturate your hair.

Not “rose gold” or “pastel” pink at all. Tried what other reviews said and used on dry hair. My hair turned out neon pink. Also was not expecting it to soak my hair. Was hard to see where it applied and where it didn’t as my hair just looked wet. Used it once and couldn’t wait for it to wash out.

Burning, blurry eyes. Aerosol mess. I bought this at Target and was so excited to try it!! I have very light brown, highlighted hair. First of all, I adore Kristin Ess products. They’re all I’ve used for ages. Got in the shower, shampooed, towel dried a bit, and began to spray. Even with my eyes squeezed tightly shut, they began to immediately burn. And I mean really hurt. Rinsed them out over and over with plain water, which did not help at all. It’s been over an hour, and the are not only still burning but are also very blurry and watering like crazy. The other problem I had is that the aerosol spray just hangs in the air. It’s like a mushroom cloud throughout my bathroom and into my bedroom. For this product I would definitely say buyer beware. Just a total mess.

I have been using this for yeeears. I have very thick wavy and (fake) blonde hair. I don’t follow the instructions at all - I spray a whole bottle on dry hair, let it sit 60-90 minutes, then I rinse, condition, comb it, and let it air dry. I’ve had friends help me but you can definitely do it yourself. Yes it stains, so I wear a tank top I don’t care about and an old towel around my shoulders. I also sleep with a pillow case I don’t care about while it’s pink just in case. I LOVE the results. It’s not hot pink and not really rose gold but it’s just a fun pink in the summer. I love the scent (it smells like allllllll the Ess products.) It definitely lasts a while but of course if you need it out sooner, a regular shampoo works. Ignore the directions, play around with it, and you won’t be disappointed. I never have been!

I am OBSESSED with this product. I’ve always wanted to try a subtle pink tint in my hair and this was perfect! I will be buying this over and over again. It works perfect on my blonde highlighted hair. It gives me the perfect light pink shade. I left it on for 2-3 minutes in the shower before rinsing. It lasted through 3 washes. I had zero problems with the spray function lots have complained about. Yes, it does get on the walls in the shower, but you can spray it right off with your shower head. Highly recommend! Check out my before/after pic! Next time I may try to leave it on a little longer to see how I like.

I am brunette so i didn’t have high hopes this would show. To my surprise, there was color payoff but I had to use almost the whole bottle. Made hair have a weird texture after (almost like too much hairspray or product) which made it hard to style or brush through. It does wash out which is nice for a temp color.
