Description

I always recommend that my clients come to get glossed and toned
between salon visits to extend the life of their color. I’m finally able
to give them, and you, something that is easy to use at home. This
in-shower treatment is formulated to instantly boost vibrancy and
shine, while neutralizing warmth on color treated or natural light
blonde hair. It will help you keep your color looking fresh, shiny and
healthy between appointments.

Choose this color if you have light blonde hair and want to neutralize or tone down warmth.

HOW TO:
(Read all instructions thoroughly before glossing your hair)
1. wet your hair thoroughly in the shower.
2. mix bottle 1 and 2 together, shake gently and apply all over.
3. wait 10-20 minutes, depending on the result you want, then rinse thoroughly.
4. shampoo and condition as usual.

VIBRANCY BOOSTING TECHNOLOGY:
Creates a protective shield over the hair to instantly boost shine and help lock-in your color.

ANTI-OXIDANT COMPLEX:
Smooths and softens hair from root to tip making hair more manageable.

ALKALINE NEUTRALIZING SYSTEM:
Protects from color fading by preventing hard water minerals from being deposited onto the hair and scalp.

Q: I'm a natural re head and want to tone down the warmth. Would Winter Wheat be appropriate/safe to try?

submitted by Mum23 - 9 months ago
  • A: Hello Mum23! Winter Wheat is best if you have light blonde hair and want to neutralize or tone down warmth. We hope this helps!

submitted byTarget Beauty Consulting - 9 months ago
    Brand expert
  • A: Hello! We would strongly advise to stay within your color family when using our toning glosses. The Winter Wheat is recommended for light blonde hair and will likely not have any affect on your red hair. We would suggest our Purple Shampoo and Conditioner to help tone the brassiness. Hope this helps!

Q: I've been using the celestial skies conditioner & I'd like to switch to pink/purple. Im interested in the wild berry gloss. I'm worried that it might look terrible because Celestial Skies fades in my hair to a greenish brown. Any recommendations/advice?

submitted by Ellie H - 10 months ago
  • A: Hello! We highly recommend allowing the Celestial Skies shade to fade completely before applying our toning gloss. The Wild Berry is formulated for brown hair and for the best results, it is highly advised to ensure the base is brown prior to using this specific toning gloss. Hope this helps!

Q: Does Kristin Ess Signature Hair Gloss have a strong smell? I'm sensitive to fragrance.

submitted by Rivergirl - 3 years ago
  • A: No, it was not bad at all. I used it and then went to bed and I did not wake up all night to a WEIRD smell as I would when I used hair dye. there is, of course a smell while you are using it, while it is on your head, but it is not "fumey" and not horrible. You are instructed to wash your hair after rinsing the product out, so that may be why the lingering smell was not strong or bad.

submitted byCanyon Gal - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! The Signature Hair Glosses do not have any added fragrance and will not have a lingering smell once rinsed out.

  • A: According to their online site, 3-4 weeks depending on how frequently you wash your hair. I'm just using for the first time.

Q: can you use this if you don't color your hair, I am mostly gray with some of my natural dark brown hair underneath. What shade would I choose?

submitted by Shep - 1 month ago
  • A: Hi Shep Good news is, you have options! If you’re looking to maintain your natural color and grays and you want to boost shine without adding any color, go with the Crystal Quartz gloss! It’s colorless and won’t alter your natural color. If you’re interested in using something with pigment, it would depend on several factors. Would you be able to upload a photo of your hair color here so we can help you select the right shade? If you’re not comfortable adding a photo here, please reach out to customerservice@kristinesshair.com and we can help you via email.

Q: Hello! I've been thinking about this but I have a two-tone hairstyle (brown on top, blonde underneath), if I got Chocolate Cosmo, would that bleed into my blonde portion when rinsing it in the shower?

submitted by AFinch - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello, We're happy to help! You can definitely gloss if you have two tone hair, and there are a couple ways you could go about it: Option 1. Use the Crystal Quartz gloss, which doesn’t have any color pigment! It is a clear gloss, but I would still suggest separating your hair into two sections (dark and light) while applying and processing. I say that because even though it’s a clear gloss, the dark color could still bleed into the lighter color while the gloss is processing, especially if your color was done recently. Option 2. Use Chocolate Cosmo gloss on top and conditioner on the lighter section underneath. Just clip the top/dark section up and away. Next, apply a liberal amount of conditioner to the blonde underneath and secure it in a bun. Next, apply the Chocolate Cosmo gloss to your top section then clip it up and away from the blonde section while it processes. If you can, it helps to lean forward in the shower or sink while applying it to the top section and when you rinse it as well. Once the Chocolate Cosmo gloss is rinsed, proceed shampooing and/or conditioning as you normally would. Hope this helps!

Q: I noticed that hydrogen peroxide is listed as an ingredient in the product. Will this lighten or change the color of the hair that is not currently highlighted if my hair has highlights?

submitted by mommyshark - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello, We're happy to help! Although there is hydrogen peroxide in the ingredient list, it’s added at a level that will only deposit color and not lift your hair to a lighter level. Hope this help!

Q: Hi! Am I supposed to use the whole bottle in one go? I didn't use the whole bottle the first time and I only got a little bit of a difference. Should I use half or the whole bottle?

submitted by madystryk - 2 months ago
  • A: Hello Madystryk, that is correct. Wet hair thoroughly in the shower first, then mix bottles 1 and 2 together, shake gently and apply all over. Wait 10-20 minutes, depending on the result you want, then rinse thoroughly, shampoo and condition as usual. This stuff literally saved my hair. I'd gotten some awful professional highlights that left my dark roots a weird shade of orange and the length a brassy yellow color. I thought my only option was to dye it all dark but this gloss completely fixed all of the warm tones and left me with a pretty bronde color.

I tried this product in 2 shades, Bittersweet and Smoky topaz. My hair is naturally straight, thick and haven’t been color treated, has some natural sunlights. Bittersweet gave me cheap box dye reddish brunette color, thankfully it washed off within about two months. Smoky Topaz on the other hand did absolutely nothing. TWICE! My hair looks 100% the same. As per gloss treatment, I get the same results from any generic hair mask. Application is messy, but would be forgivable if it delivered expected results. Love the idea behind the product but unfortunately it didn’t work for me.

Love Copper Penny

Copper penny gloss has saved my bank account. I have blonde hair and decided to go red in February. It fades soooo fast. I was having to get my hair redone every 5-6 weeks and that was pushing it. When I found the copper gloss and tried it- it was a heaven send. This is the perfect color. It isn’t too bright orange like others I’ve tried and goes on super even. And it’s so easy to do. It fades so beautifully too. This has allowed me to go multiple months in between appointments.

1 1/2 Weeks out from Using Copper Gloss -- Still enjoying!

I have long, dirty blonde hair with some natural auburn streaks. My hair is fine and has a wave. My sister helped me apply the copper penny gloss about a week and a half ago. It is very orangey, but in a way that reads "natural-red-head" rather than construction cone. She applied in sections, which took a while, and then I left on for about 10 minutes. The result is fun! An amped up, orangey version of my natural hair. I'll definitely do this again.

I couldn't find this color in stores anywhere, it was sold out & now I / WE know why. It's breathtakingly beautiful. I have dark brown hair & decided to try this color & ended up getting it from the website itself & I was not disappointed! The only downfall is that red in any brand doesn't last long, so I try to only wash my hair weekly & with color safe shampoo so it will last longer! Maybe I'll be able to post pics after my next application!

This gloss is REALLY dark. I expected a lighter chocolate brown and it definitely looked more black than brown. It also was a little patchy upon first use (a problem I haven’t had before with Kristen Ess glosses) so I had to apply it twice. I used this about a year ago and it faded nicely but it never fully washed out. Granted, my hair was bleached beforehand so I’m sure it held onto the dye stronger than virgin hair would. But when I went to bleach my hair again last month (at a salon by a professional stylist), the bleach still had a little bit of a harder time getting through the area that was previously dyed by this toner. So just be aware going into it! Overall it was fun, but it will stain your hair so I don’t recommend it if you want a toner that will fully wash out eventually.

O M G ——okay so based on EVERYTHING on the Kristin Ess website and other reviews along with plenty of internet research, this is NOT hair dye, but a TEMPORARY toner and gloss….so why is my medium brown hair BLACK now and despite washing twice a day with clarifying shampoo has NOT lifted a bit 😭😭😭😭😭😭 I’m so embarrassed and I feel horrible — it supposedly washes out in 4-5 washes, or will last about a month. NOPE. I’m so upset about this. I’ve used other shades of this same product and this has NEVER happened before. Something about chocolate cosmo is very very different. Please be careful!!!! I’m facing a very expensive hair appointment now.

This is everything a ginger could want. I am a natural ginger but my hair is like a dark strawberry blonde. I have always looked for different ways I can give my hair a little more color and this is perfect. It gives my hair a more copper tone without it being too orange. I will always come back to use this product!!
