  • A: Hi there! Thank you for your inquiry. At L’Oréal, we care for animal welfare and do not test on animals. We are for a world without animal testing. Leaves a white cast of all things. Very difficult to rub product into skin, requires too much effort and tugging on the skin.

Hello Sue, Thank you for sharing your experience with La Roche Posay Cicaplast Balm Vitamin B5 Soothing Therapeutic Cream for Dry Skin and Irritated Skin. We are so sorry to hear about the issue you are having with your new product. At times, if this very hydrating moisturizer is layered under or over another hydrating skincare product that has not fully absorbed into skin, it can cause the moisturizer to ball up or “pill”. To help avoid this, we recommend allowing the first product you apply in your skincare routine to fully dry and absorb into skin until it feels dry to the touch before layering on the next product.

I bought this to fight the dryness and flakiness I have from starting to use Tretenoin. It does seem to help, but it also gave me a few small pimples around my nose. That made me not want to continue to use it, since I’m trying to get rid of those with the Tretenoin! I will just use this on my hands probably. I’d still recommend this for its moisturizing properties, I’m sure not everyone will break out-my skin is just dumb.

I bought this because I see dermatologists recommend this for dry and irritated skin, and I'm so happy I bought this! I use it on my face and my hands, and the irritation I get from facial acid serums and washing hands in cold weather faster than if I used just any other lotion or cream. I will be buying balm this from now on!

I love this product. I have very sensitive rosacea prone skin, and have a very specific skincare regimen. When I wear a full face of make up, am out in the sun, or am having a flare up— I use this on top of all my serums and moisturizers and treatments to soothe and heal my skin. It’s a little extra TLC for my skin when it needs it. Will keep purchasing!

I used this product for my acne because I have been hearing many good things about it. This did not make my skin react negatively or positively. My skin stayed basically the same. This product however, does not advertise or say that it is for acne. So, I can not be upset about it. This product could work for dryness but it didn’t work for my acne.

This lotion is shockingly effective and would 10/10 recommend. When looking up lotions for retinol creams (as they severely dry your face up in some cases), I saw this lotion commonly used for dry skin. I will say this with full confidence that this is the lotion you want for your face. Most lotions will create a greasy glossy finish on your face which in return clogs your pores or makes you feel like a grease ball, but this lotion is the only lotion that has both hydrating properties, while also leaving your skin feeling like there is nothing on it. I have read reviews on this product and many people saying it left a white film on their face, or that it would roll up into balls while applying. I have experienced both of these and found out it was due to user error. For the white film issue: I will not lie, this lotion will leave a dull dry appearance (which looks better in my opinion). You do not need to use a lot of the lotion to cover your skin. Simply using 1-2 pea sized drops is perfect for facial applications. With my other lotion, I had to use one pump which was roughly 3 times the amount of the 1-2 pea sized drops I use now, and I used a large quantity of this lotion my first time trying it (which using the lotion led me to looking like Casper the ghost). It doesn't take a lot for it to be effective. For the balling up issue or not being able to work: If you have dry flaky skin present on the surface, the lotion will not stick as it is clumping with your dead skin. Simply taking a shower or washing your face (exfoliate the dead skin), patting it dry with a towel, then applying the lotion soon after allows the lotion to work effectively. For those concerned about breaking out while using this: I have not had any issues regarding the lotion. I know in some cases, acne will appear on its own and the lotion will commonly be blamed. This may also vary from person to person, I am not a dermatologist but an engineering student. In my opinion for costs, I would say this is fairly priced. You don't need large quantities for it to work, thus a small tube of this will last you a long time. It may seem pricy compared to other lotions you can purchase, but trust me, it's worth it. My only complaint is wishing that it was in a larger tube as I keep losing it in my bag (it would fall out of the inside pocket I keep it in and fall into some nook at the bottom of my bag), but I have been using this for roughly 3-4 months daily and still have plenty to use. Once I run out, I will definitely be buying a new bottle immediately.

Not as hydrating as I wanted. I would not purchase this again. This isn’t hydrating as a stand alone moisturizer for my skin type, I guess. I was initially drawn to this because from reviews and going by it’s ingredients everything looked mild for those with skin conditions such as my self (seborrheic dermatitis). This expensive diaper cream. When I use too little it’s not hydrating and when I use more my skin has a slight white cast. This shouldn’t be too much of an issue for those using at night or with lighter complexions than mine. (I know it’s because of the zinc but yeah for the price with this little tube I expected more). Also, I purchased online from target and it just came in a box with no seal. Is that normal?
