Q: Is this good for severely, dry, cracked lips? I'm extremely sick, bedridden for years, I'm dehydrated & a lot of meds don't help. I'm looking for some-thing as fab as Dr Lipp Nipple Balm. Any advic?

  • A: I use this as lip balm and find it to stay on and hydrate better than aquafor.

  • A: I've never used this for my lips, but I would think it would do the trick. Have you tried aquafor?

    submitted bymotherof1 - 8 years ago
  • A: I use this product on my lips nightly after my shower and it works amazingly for preventing chapped lips! I work outside in the weather a lot and it is a lifesaver. Occasionally, I will apply it again in the morning. I am sure it would help protect them so they could heal if they were already chapped.

Q: Do you have to wash this off before nursing the baby?

submitted by SuziB - 8 years ago
  • A: No. It is safe for baby to nurse after applying it and leaving it on.

Q: What is the full ingredients list on this?

submitted by audball - 8 years ago
  • A: The Lansinoh HPA Lanolin is a single ingredient product comprised 100% of Lanolin. It's safe for mom and baby, 100% natural and hypoallergenic. The unique refining process ensures a pure, high-quality product, with no preservatives, parabens, fragrance, or taste. It is recommended to apply the Lanolin after breastfeeding, instead of before, so that it has time to absorb into the skin. The NDC information indicated in a prior response was for Lansinoh's discontinued Diaper Rash Cream, not the HPA Lanolin.

Q: does this work if you breastfeed and babie has the thrash? will it help with the thrash on the breast?

submitted by Jane - 2 years ago
  • A: Hello Jane, Thank you for your questions. While Lansinoh Lanolin Nipple Cream is bacteriostatic and won’t promote new growth; it does form a partially occlusive barrier, so it is not recommended that you use lanolin when you have thrush.

I started using the cream on my sore nipples and a few days later my baby developed thrush infection and I got yeast infection on my nipples. I am not sure if it's related but I stopped using it... couldn't trust it.
1 reply from Lansinoh Team team - 5 days ago
Thank you for taking the time to provide your review. Thrush in babies and yeast infections in mothers are both caused by an overgrowth of the Candida fungus, which naturally lives on both the baby and mom’s bodies. During breastfeeding, the fungus can be transferred between mother and baby, especially if there's an imbalance caused by factors like antibiotics, hormonal changes, or a weakened immune system. For moms, yeast infections can occur on the nipples or breast if the environment becomes too moist or if there are cracks or sore areas, making it easier for Candida to grow. It's important for both mom and baby to be treated simultaneously to prevent reinfection. If you notice symptoms like pain, itching, or white patches, consult with your healthcare provider for guidance and treatment.

I work on a postpartum unit and this is what we give to all of moms. Some moms get several tubes as we have the smaller ones of course. Others just get 1-2 as a just in case when they go home. Moms are always happy to have it as a back up and those who need it during their hospital stay are happy we are able to provide them with it. There is a reason a hospital has chosen to carry Lansinoh nipple cream its superior to the others!
