Detailed and time-consuming

My first LEGO set in many years. I was quite a fan in my younger days. Since I was buying for myself, I wanted a challenging piece that would take time to put together, yet look good on display. This kit fits the bill. The wings look well-sized in relation to the main body of the craft, yet where they attach to the craft feels flimsy, and I had to take care when moving the assembled unit around. Assembling this set was spread over three evenings, a few hours per evening. It is very intricate in the details. The end result is bigger than I had expected, yet it looks pretty good propped up on its stand. Like others have mentioned, the stickers seem like taking an easy alternative to printing the pieces in the same patterns. This is the only real gripe I have with this set and I would have to dock half a brick for that in my review. As I cannot dock half a brick, and because it is a minor issue, I give the full five bricks.

This was a great gift for my husband. He loves Star Wars. We spent a few hours each day chipping away at the build. As always a few of the bags contained extra pieces to confuse us. Looks amazing now it’s build. Attention to detail is fantastic.

Awesome Highly Detailed Model

This was a pretty fun build to put together, with some interesting techniques used along the way. The stand is a bit flimsy looking, but holds the model together pretty well once it is "hooked" in. The model itself is very detailed, but the under-side is pretty flimsy and could use some strengthening (would not advise much play out of this one). Requires proper hand placement for pickup. I'm a little concerned with possible droop over-time with a couple areas, but time will tell. I'd like to see more of the tail/body used for interior work/storage (this will likely be an upgrade I'll pursue).

Fun build and great design with fantastic detail. The pictures don't do it justice, it is a lot bigger in person.

This was a challenging build, with a number of new construction techniques introduced. The ship is fascinating erect on its stand and a welcome addition to any Star Wars display. However, the model is so flimsy that it is simply unplayable. The sides are attached on one edge only and flap with every touch, the beautiful base seems to shed pieces with every handling and the sheer weight of the ship condemns the otherwise beautiful model to a display (NO-TOUCH) role only. Which is strange because I have over two dozen LEGO kits (Technic and Creator Expert mainly) and this is the very first time the LEGO product is banned to the shelf, not to be enjoyed by me or my grandchildren.

GREAT SET

My 11 year old son go this set for Christmas 2018. I built this set with him. The time I indicated it took to build the set is a guess cause we built it over several days and committed varying amounts of time in those days. The Boba Fett mini fig has accurate detail. The helmet even has printing on it representing the marks/dents Boba Fett had on his helmet in Empire Strikes back and the same goes for the Slave 1 ship; serious attention to detail. During the building of this set we did make some mistakes and had to go back and recoup pieces that were misplaced and put the correct pieces in, so it was a challenge even though we did our best to pay attention to orientation and setting aside the pieces before doing a step during assembly. This was the biggest set my son and I have built and it was fun to build. Stringing out the build over several days built lots of anticipation for my son and I every day the set was not assembled. If we could have built it in one sitting we would have, but other obligations made us stop. Great set!

Great Model With Good Features But A Few Issues

Firstly I will start by saying this is my first UCS build so in that respect I will not try and compare it to other UCS sets. Positives: 1. Good Size Model 2. Interesting Build 3. Some Great Features Including Hidden Side Weapons 4. Great Boba Fett Model and Han Solo In Carbonite 5. Great Looking Model When Built. Negatives: 1. Too Many Stickers For My Liking Would Have Prefered Some To Be Replaced By Printed Pieces Especially When Spending This Amount Of Money. 2. Following on from my gripe above the information plaque is a sticker that is very difficult to get right first time and because of its size difficult to reposition if you get it wrong, maybe Lego could come up with a better system for this ideally a printed piece, which surly would look a lot better and fitting for a model such as this? 3. When attached to the stand the bottom of the ship blocks most of the information plaque, making it almost pointless from a display point of view. 4. My biggest issue really has to be with ‘ability’ to load Han Solo in Carbonite into the ships hold, during the build it looks like you will be able to to this easily and that the piece that the Carbonite fits onto will come out much further from the ships hold than it really does once the build is complete as such it is very difficult to load and fiddly if you have bigger fingers and hands. It’s a real shame because I love the idea of being able to load Han Solo into the hold but with this design it’s almost pointless. Overall I am extremely happy with this set, it makes a great looking model that is a decent size when constructed and was a really good and interesting build to construct. Apart from the above mentioned cons of the set which I hope Lego address , they have done a good job with this one.
