This set at first seems to be a great idea, but if you pay close attention you can see that it is mostly small pieces along with the set not being massive, it uses a lot of extra pieces and is very repetitive their really isn’t much to the set if you have the money then get it but if not, then you should get something else, and don’t pay attention to the piece number as it won’t tell you its true worth.

My Son loved to build it. And he enjoyed it. It was not hard for him, as he is 6 years old. Only the hard part was we didn't want to continue to finish by one day.

As a kid, I remember seeing the older creator taj mahal in the lego store. I could never convince my mom to get it for me, so when I saw this set, I knew I had to get it. The build was repetitive at points, but I enjoyed it since there were a lot of small details you could spend time perfecting. It looks so beautiful on display and makes me happy every time I see it. 10/10 would recommend

As an open minded world wonderer, I have yet to make it there. This was a delightful build, Lego always does their best to get details as close to the real thing. Which is always a joyful surprise. Keep it up.

This is a great set of architecture and ends looking very nice. The few things I disliked about it are it uses friction and gravity to hold a few points in or down. As well as is very repetitive. On this small a scale it’s not terrible and I definitely still recommend it. Repetitive builds by Lego, like the colosseum, are luckily not terribly wide spread and many still carry fantastic results.

Many have commented on the repetition but really this is the nature of things particular to this style of architecture. The only thing asymmetrical are the tombs. I enjoyed this build a lot and the clever sub-assemblies Everything worked in concert from start to finish. The scale was perfect and makes for a striking display piece. I like Lego sets that have many pieces in which the build is submersive and in that respect, this really satisfies that

Favorite set in the line

I have always been a big history and culture geek. For me the lego architecture line has always been my favorite, especially when it is iconic landmarks such as the Taj Mahal. This set was really fun to put together, and the end result is perfect for me. Its just big enought and detailed enough to feel really satisfying when finished but its not so huge its hard to make space for. Its a perfect square thats easy to add to your home decorand makes an excellent display piece. This one is a winner!

Expensive - Unnecessary details

I have nearly all Lego Architecture sets and I must say - this is one of my least favourite. It is not only a pretty tedious build with the hundreds of tile pieces that are very hard to get straight on top of the repetitiveness in the steps. It seems to have some detailed parts that are completely hidden and seem unnecessary - it feels like it is just jacking up the pieces and the price. I would much have rather it been small and include the courtyard of the Taj Mahal, much like the Trafalgar Square build. Overall it is a nice piece visually, but I do not think it is worth the price compared to the other sets.

Mostly Good (mistake or Easter egg on the box!)

First of all, I bought this because the price is very low for the amount of pieces. The reason I say “mostly good” is because there are a lot of repeated steps which was pretty annoying. Otherwise I really enjoyed building this. The picture on the box has something a little strange to me. I doubt this was done on purpose, but if anybody happens to know this was intentional and if so, why?, I’d love to know. So basically the white pieces lining the bottom (I circled them in the picture) have the LEGO logo on one side and a random dot on the other side. The pieces are placed vertically in a way that the logo is always at the top. However, one of the pieces on the corner has the logo at the bottom with the dot on top. I found that really interesting.

Why is there a cross at the top of the dome?

Why is there a cross at the top of the center dome instead of a crescent moon? It may not be the actual cross shape but it is made to look like a cross from any angle. The designer who paid attention to so many details of the structure could not figure out the difference between a crescent moon and a cross? Or is Lego not capable of designing a simple crescent shape despite being able to create so many custom pieces for this set? This is a deliberate microagression at its best, trying to put your personal / religion first.
1 reply from LEGO® Customer Service team - 2 years ago
We want to assure you that this piece wasn't designed to be a religious symbol and we're sorry that it created this impression. Our designers work to recreate buildings as accurately as possible within the constraints of the pieces available. They looked at all the existing pieces and selected one to represent the ornate shape of the filial at the top of the Taj Mahal. We appreciate your feedback and we're always here at LEGO.build/Service-BV to answer any questions.
