Tie interceptor

Started out as a good build. Just had the wings to go and that's when it went down hill. The stand is flimsy and has trouble supporting the weight. I got one flap on and it fell over. Tried several times. Every time the same result. Pieces would pop off. Put the pieces back on and try the wing again. And same thing would happen. After several tries and becoming extremely frustrated I decided to return the tie interceptor to the store where purchased.

This was a gift from my wife for Christmas. After making the Millennium Falcon I was really looking forward to making and displaying Tie Interceptor. It looks impressive on the box. the build started very well, until you get to put it on the stand and try to add the wings, the model than becomes unbalanced and too heavy for the stand. The pressure required to attached the wings to the main body cause parts to either fall off or collapse or over balance at which point the stand disintegrates. I have repeatedly had to rebuild various parts, which has become tedious. I have lost count of the times I have have tried to complete this project so much so that the model less wings is on display and the wings are in the boxes waiting for my patience to return, I am now seriously considering using glue to attached the mounts to the main support before attaching the wings again. This is a very disappointing Lego experience and if it cannot be completed than it becomes an obsolete waste of time and money. These issues must have been identified at the time of design and trial building so why they were not sorted out then is beyond comprehension.

The stand is terrible. It’s supported by the equivalent of chop sticks and you put it down on the stand with one of the sides missing or it will completely fall over. While building this I was missing multiple small pieces but it wasn’t end of the world because I took pieces from they sets but still a real annoyance that took me 10 minutes each time I had to look for a missing piece. The set completely crumples if you so much as sneeze on it. I’m not kidding I had this thing on my dresser and I accidentally hit the front of it and a piece from the back end of it came flying off. I have no idea how but it just did. Oh when your set decides to break at some point (it will) good luck trying to fix it again because you will in some way destroy more pieces of the set that you had no idea where they even were from on it. This set is just a massive headache to deal with.

Stand and wings fell apart multiple times near the end. Applying pressure in the wrong place will likely break something. Wings are fragile. I hated assembling this.

Great set. Build has several repetitive parts you construct, but they were fun to build. Looks great next to my X-Wing!

I got this as a post-holiday present to myself, and it’s been an exercise in frustration. Once I got to bag 8, things started falling off willy-nilly, and I kept having to go back several steps. The core of the ship drops pieces, pieces were missing, and I’ve had to cannibalize other lego sets to progress. Truly disappointing.

Shame the build experience was poor, I had to build this twice, first time it shattered when trying to put it on the poorly designed stand for it, it simply is too fragile was a good while before I built it again, but it's still a very fragile build, I dont really think we needed the interior to be a play thing, this should have been like the tie fighter a great display piece that isn't supposed to be played with, this thing keeps wanting to come apart if I even touch it and I've built all the ucs sets, this one is the only one to have broken on me.
Great looking set - However...

I initially planned to give this set a 5-star review because the design looks great, and the building process was enjoyable. However, my experience quickly took a turn once I finished assembling the set and tried to move it to my room. Following the instruction manual, I removed the set from its stand to carry it more securely. Unfortunately, when I placed it back on the stand, a piece pinged off. This revealed a major flaw: once the cockpit is built, fixing any detached piece is extremely inconvenient. I had to remove multiple parts just to replace one piece, and due to the positioning, this wasn’t possible on the stand. Worse, holding the set to make repairs caused more pieces to fall off, turning a simple fix into an hour-long ordeal. Many bricks in the cockpit are connected with minimal stability, so even the slightest touch can cause them to fall off. This experience left me frustrated and nervous to handle the set in the future. Additionally, the minifigure helmet in my set doesn’t stay securely on the figure’s head—it pops off instead. While this might not affect everyone, it added to my disappointment. Ultimately, this experience left me regretting my purchase. I can’t see myself buying another Lego set, especially at this price, given how flimsy and frustrating this set is.

Flimsy & Poor Build

I was looking forward to the Interceptor for a while now and I enjoyed all of the previous TIE builds. This one however, is terrible. I am not even finished with the build and a lot of the parts fall apart with little to no pressure given to any specific areas. I have also had a read of some of the previous reviews, and let me say, I do not have any hope in continuing without further faults. I have a vast collection of UCS builds as well as smaller ones from the Star Wars theme and this is by far the worst. I would advise anyone considering purchasing this model to have a good think and read all of the reviews with three or less stars. I hope that no other future models from Lego are like this.

I remember spending countless hours looking at the promo pictures of the first UCS Interceptor and X-Wing as kid, but never got them. So I really couldn't miss the chance with their latest iteration. The fact that both have been designed by the same person that designed the original really adds to the collector value for me. I have to admit, the Interceptor greatly exceeded my expectations and it's my favourite of the two. The proportions are very close to the actual ship, and it has some very interesting building techniques. It's also much sturdier than 75355. My only complaint is the plaque. On one hand I like the fact it's printed and not a sticker, but the gloss surface looks odd and I prefer the satin/matte finish used on the X-Wing. Overall it's one of the best UCS I own and I highly recommend this set!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The coolest Lego set I’ve ever seen! It’s in amazing packaging, it’s nearly 2000 pieces so it’s great value for money with the time spent building. Creates a great durable piece of Lego that I can’t wait to display!
