1962 was a big year. Modernist design hit its peak and moved into homes across the country. And in Minnesota, Target was born — with the revolutionary idea to celebrate design for all. Project 62 embodies this legacy with a collection of modern pieces made for everyday living.
I really like it, but I had to take away a star because as seen in one of the pictures, I thought it had a stand. It can’t be upright without leaning against something. But other than that, I really like it.
My 17 year old purchased this for her college dorm room. She likes it! She says it has a “retro vibe.” The only issue we had was taking the plastic letters off their plastic mold. Excuse my French, but it was truly a pain in the butt. Very tedious. Not sure why these did not come ready to use. Some snapped off more easily than others. Then after you get them loose, they have little tabs to stick them on the board, but also excess plastic tabs from the mold. I had to clip some letters off with wire cutters and used this to trim off excess as well. Another gripe is there is no place to store the letters. I ended up putting them in a baggie. For the price, these issues were irritating. The letter board frame seems sturdy enough, but the back of the frame is a little cheap looking. I know she’ll enjoy it in her room, but wanted to warn others about the letter situation.
When i bought this, for some reason i thought the frame was more of a light wood color, but its actually gold- which i am so much more happy with!! I saw some other reviews saying the plastic letters are hard to break off. i have found that once you snap the letter off the plastic bar, use nail clippers to get the remaining plastic piece off the letter! every time i snapped one of the letters off to use, i was left over with a remaining little plastic piece at the bottom of the letter, but nail clippers get right in there and allow you to cut off any remaining plastic. other reviews also said they had a hard time with their letters staying put, but i have not had this issue at all. just push the letter into the board firmly and they should have no problem staying put. this is such a cute decoration and i love coming up with different quotes/ sayings to put on the board!
I really like the gold outline! The letters did not come apart easily and left some plastic on the letters when you get them apart. It was much more work to get them undone than I expected but it is cute. We have it in our office and have not had an issue with the letters falling out, but you can tell that they are loosely in there.
This is adorable and very versatile, I used it at my daughters graduation as a photo prop and now it's hung over my bar cart with a silly phrase.
I imagine it will say all sorts of random things in our house as the seasons change or guests come over
