submitted byDENIZEN Product Expert - 1 year agoBrand expertA: These Levi's are 501 ORIGINAL, not 501 ORIGINAL "Shrink to Fit". However, I ordered one medium stone pair, which has been washed at the factory, and one pair called rinse, which I am guessing has only been rinsed at the factory. The stonewashed pair is exactly the right size 33x30 I have been buying for 40 years. The ones called rinse are an inch longer. I don't know if the rinse will shrink, so I asked a Levi customer representative and she said they were probably cut wrong and should be returned for the correct size. I am not sure if this answer has helped or not, but at least you can always return them to the store.

I ordered two pairs of 34 x 30 501 jeans, based on the 'true to size' statement on the website. I washed them once in lukewarm water and then hung to dry. They're way too tight at the waist for me. When I compare the waist with an old pair of 550s that are 34 x 32 the waist is about 3 inches shorter. Pretty mad about this as I will now have to donate them to a thrift shop. I added a photo so you can see the old 550s and the new 501s, both nominally the same waist size, but the new 501s are tiny compared to the old jeans.

Whoever is in charge of changing the the quality of material for 501s, has dropped the ball and lost a lot of good loyal customers. These don't feel or last anything like they used to be. Terrible!

Losing another multi-decade 501s customer

Ordered 4 pairs of original 501 STF rigid jeans online. Every single pair has both leg seams rotated nearly 45 degrees at the cuffs. Before even any washing or uneven shrinkage. I'm having to return them all. This has been a growing problem with these jeans for years, but this is beyond anything acceptable. Clearly Levi doesn't care about the reputation of their flagship product. I've been a loyal 501 customer for close to 40 years. No more.

Received a replacement pair in the mail and the new pair fit perfect as usual. I say as usual because I've been wearing Levi jeans for over 45 years. However, after washing the trousers, I discovered that 2 are really tight, to the degree that I doubt they're the correct measurement. 1 of them, I cannot even button. Long story short, try them on before you wash them.

Quality extremely poor. Will not recommend. Your web site is designed only to push sales. Which for the company that’s great however it is no consumer friendly.

My mother bought my first pair when I started school back in 1959 ! They are the best, butterflies (so my man parts don’t get zipped ! It takes me 2 years to wear them out at work. I have noticed that over the years the material is lighter, but other than switching to canvas work pants, they are still the heaviest weight denim I can find. My wife wears mine whenever she goes shopping, but not sure why. They do fit her really well in the trunk!!! 🙀

I bought 2 pairs of shrink to fit 501's, but washing one pair, it shrunk too much. Both pairs were replaced to a larger size. The quality is almost as good as it was when I was a teenager (I'm now a skinny almost 70-year old woman) and I feel like 15 again when I wear them.
